Hmm, I see nothing wrong with adding a skip combat option... I haven't ever seen an interactive movie before so it could be interesting. If it's not all that interesting, then I'll just not use the skip combat button.

A well done video game storyline has the advantage of including the player's emotions into the story - e.g. the last 1/3rd of Bioshock.

Agreed j-bides. I worked in web-application development this past year and learned that no matter how well we could make something run on IE, it never quite looked the same on Firefox. Developing for both platforms IE/Firefox and X360/PS3) would cost extra time and resources; luxuries developers don't necessarily have. The bottom line is that developers generally choose which platform they want to spend the most time on. The other platforms are often seen as cheap and easy profits. (May not apply to all companies.)
