My girlfriend and I finally ready to jump into the "next gen" and we're having lots of problems deciding between the 360 and the ps3 for now. We plan to get both eventually, but only one until Christmas or next year. The main sticking point is this:

Is the emotion engine chip in the ps3 enough of a reason to grab it before they're gone, and will waiting on the 360 increase the odds of getting a cooler running, quieter, more stable system?

We both have games that interest us on both systems, so it won't come down to games for the final decision. So what do you all think, which would be the best IMMEDIATE purchase?

Oh, and please don't make this into a system war. We like both systems, just can't afford both at this time.
