Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn are teaming up once again after their recent partnership in the neo-noir crime drama 'Drive' in this upcoming brutal crime thriller. I'm a huge fan of Gosling and the director has got some successful movies under his belt that include the Pusher trilogy and Bronson. To say the least, after Elysium, this is my second most anticipated movie of the year.

The film follows Julian (Gosling) who runs a Thai boxing club as a front organization for his family's drug smuggling operation, as he is forced by his mother Jenna to find and kill the individual responsible for his brother's recent death. A red band trailer released weeks ago shows that Only God Forgives will share a similar style, violent kinetic energy and soundtrack to that of Drive, and Winding Refn even stated it's a continuation of that same language - "it's based on real emotions, but set in a heightened reality. It's a fairy tale."

It has been selected to compete for the Palme d'Or (highest prize) at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and is due for general release on July 19, 2013. I can't wait!
