No, it's not their native resolution. They are both 480p, but WiiU gamepad is widescreen. GCN 480p was 480 X 640 (4X3 aspect ratio). I had a GCN, and a progressive-scan widescreen t.v., but my old t.v. (an early pro-scan model) could only display progressive scan over the whole screen, so it ended up stretching the picture, which looked terrible.GC games are probably gonna be best played on the gamepad since they will be displayed in native res (the ones that support 480p, I think most 1st party games do). They'll look amazing on that small screen.
