Oh, forgot to mention that on Steam there is a complete manual for the game that tells all about the game and what is in it.

For those confused about the game and starting up a new game before getting to the end and hitting the Start button to start up the default type game, here is a screen of the Advanced Settings one can open up and change to suit how you want to play the game. There has been a lot of conjecture about the game, and Max Turns is 500 usually for a Win condition although you can play on after that. The only question perhaps is checkboxing Max Turns and putting in 0 to not end after 500 turns, but the game will end when someone wins the game also.

This may help some players who seem to be confused on the Starting up of the game, not all screens are shown, and not the complete screen up on top giving what level you are playing on, the age of the exoplanet, and some of that not shown in the picture.

View the Advanced Startup Options (Setup Options) for the game in the picture.

Oh, there's been a few of them. But you can go through the entire alphabet right there and just the top ones now are showing.

Some are older, and did not do so well, one that comes to mind I would have to look up, ya, Superpower 2 (Superpower)

http://www.gamespot.com/superpower-2/

Did not do too good, but old now.

http://www.gamespot.com/superpower/

I never got into the game that much, probably still have them though. Maybe someday if they even play on a newer computer. (??)

http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?platform=5&category=Turn-Based+Strategy&type=games&mode=top&sort=views&sortdir=asc#

Can go through all the game, but some are not listed like Superpower (too old???)

from A to Z.

Rome Total War or something like that coming out soon, new.

??

Usually have to control other things also like economy whatever also.

Not Sci-fi though!

Not action though but the world.

Of course real old is XCOM: UFO Defense the original XCOM game and subsequent titles.

http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?platform=5&category=Turn-Based+Strategy&mode=top&sort=views&letter=X&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all

Those can be got off of Steam but the original has been reworked, just do a search for it, (needed more patches that were not done I guess only one patch.)

In case you did not see it:

http://forums.2kgames.com/forumdisplay.php?75-XCOM

and then there is theXCOM Wikipedia somewhere:

(it is listed on some threads in the forum, but I usually don't view it and just play the game, so I will try and find it)

http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread.php?184771-List-of-Let-s-Play-Videos!

LP'er name: Beaglerush
Link to First Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9zJE9GodMQ
How many Videos in the Series?: 14 (9 series one, 5 series two) new episodes every week or so
Difficulty: Impossible Ironman
Soldier Naming Scheme: Shackers.

Still looking for the Wikipedia type listings.

http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

But just go over to the first link above although it may take a few days to register to log in.

That's it, except playing the game, over, and over, and well, playing the game getting better.

:)

it's a work in progress, including Nexus Mods place where some players are trying to make mods but not really yet as there really are no tools to do that with, but still there are mods done.

That is another link, so just do a Google search for Nexus Mods XCOM should handle it.

I don't play mods and have not really used Second Wave Options in the game so far much either.

Several ways you can handle it. "That's XCOM" and perhaps later on the Squaddies will be better able to handle a terror mission.

Usually I set up a defensive situation, do not worry about civilians although rating will be poor better to lose civilians than Squaddies. Don't go on the mission right away and see if the mission will last until your wounded Squaddies are able to -although that is most likely only a day at the most and usually only a few hours before the mission is not able to go on anymore, or go on with the game and accept the loses because the game may be tougher for awhile until the Squaddies rise up in Rank or too many Countries leave XCOM and you lose the game. Play on a lower difficultly until playing the game better or go see the other forum and look around there.

It is in the Options of the Main Menu of the program whether you want Squaddies speak or not.

I think it would be on by default, but can check there on one of the tabs and pages for setting the Options in the game or else there is something about your sound card that will not allow it.

I think but am not sure that the AMD processor has bugs in it (the programming of it). Have to go to Steam, browse the files (get the game up perhaps with Library and right click on the game and get up Properties - look at Browse the files) and when the files are unhidden (if you want change the attribute for the folder and all sub-folders and take off hidden in Properties) then find that there is a file for AMD something or other there in one of the folders of the game. I think you run that *.exe program to work around the bug in that AMD processor and then I suppose the game will run. There are other programs also that do that a player can run before starting up the game. Check on the XCOM 2K forum for the game and look at some old threads to find the answer.

Since I have an Intel processor I am not sure about any of that, but I know it has been mentioned by others and what program to run if wanting to fix the bug or bugs in those AMD processor so the game will run better or correctly.

It would be better to do some thread searching and reading over at the 2K XCOM game forum.

The Squaddie first to Stabilize is like a Captain (up the Squaddie perk tree). To Revive is further up like the Support person has to be a Leutanent to do that! (or the icon will change for the action command from Stabilize to Revive.
