So heres my issue, I got a new 2wire router just a bit ago when I upgraded my IP service to 12Mbps down/1mbps up. It's been going good, but all of the sudden my router is losing wireless stability. All my hardline hookups are running fine and at FULL speed. My 360, PS3 and Laptops tho which are ALL wirelessly connected are losing connection. Checking the signal strength from the client side shows a signal that fluxes rapidly from one to five bars. This problem will not cease until I power cycle the router any where from one to multiple times. I've logged into my router locally and checked my settings, nothings been messed with or touched so I'm highly doubting some hacker did this. I've checked my signal settings and channel settings and it's all set to the same auto defaults that until recently have worked fine. From my overall research I'm guessing that this is a hardware failure, but because I don't know EVERYTHING about this stuff I was hoping someone may have had experience with this issue before and be able to offer a solution that doesn't require me to call india just to do the phone run around for two hours with some untrained moron that can barely understand english, just so they can send some tech over who will waste another two hours of my time just so at the end he can do after hours of deliberation what I told them would need to be done from the moment I first called India (aka AT&T tech support) and hand me a new router.

If it helps, it's a newer 2Wire from ATT Uverse, model 3801HGV (flx). Of the systems in the house, other than consolse there are 2 laptops and 2 desktops. One of each is running Windows 7 and the other of each is Vista. Any help is appreciated, even if by helping you merely confirm my guess that this is a hardware failure. I extend an pre-emptive thank you to any and all who may reply with constructive words.

Silly question, right? I thought so. But check this out.-  http://www.megagames.com/news/crytek-ceo-against-free-game-demos - The fools at Crytek, makers of Crysis and Far Cry think we are getting a 'luxury' by not paying just to TRY their titles. I cannot express how overly out raged I am by this. I could go on and on, but what I'll say is this. Check the link. Tell your friends. Let's get some voices heard about this subject. Check my blog on this if you're interested and leave a comment. If we can get enough notices of my blog, maybe it can become a front page mention and even more will read about this. We need to cut this monsters head off BEFORE it bites us, not after. Once companies start charging for demos you know there are enough stupid people out there that WILL pay for what should be free that corporates will NEVER be willing to go back to free demos ever again. We get demos so we can try their product before we buy it. Movies have trailers. You test drive a car. You can even preview songs on iTunes. As consumers we have the RIGHT to know what the quality of a product is before we buy it, having to pay to test a game? That's a luxury for the game companies. Us getting demos to test a product is NOT a luxury. Spread the word about this PLEASE. We need to start an action NOW.

-More Powers
-Ability to take a greater beating
-Improvements to the movement system, something closer to Prototype
-Ability to put up a 'static' shield making guns useless against you
-Ability to change clothes or even get different pieces of clothing and combine to my liking
-A more defined and drastic 'evil' and 'good' persona look. I liked the lightning changing colors but Cole himself doesn't change too drastically.
-More of a dynamic/dramatic reaction to your persona choices, I.e - More people running up to you saying they love/hate you, more posters around depicting your evil/good dynamic
-Unlimited leveing - I.e - You can improve the power of any power unlimited times, each time you improve it the power of an attack it goes up 10% and the cost to upgrade is again goes up 10%. Same for defensive powers and the like, except for specific skills like the shield inwhich behing able to increase it's size unlimited would just look stupid and be cumbersome. With this in effect people could play for hours gaining XP just to be god like, I got tired of having baddies destroy me in direct combat and having to be all sneaky and hit and run.
-Some of the powers of the main boss (you) at the end would be nice, teleportation and such.
-A more effective time slow ability.
-Far more randomly generated missions to hand out XP to support the unlimited leveling idea. :)
- to add onto the more powers, some type of machine lightning gun would be great.

Regardless of what the 360 does, the games look much better on 1080p and so far look better than what the PS3 delivers which is WHY i Wanted 1080p for the Ps3. But regardless Infamous was okay, Little Big PLanet is a blast with friends and Killzone 2 is just plain fun, so even if the console doesn't really present in 1080p, the games are fun. Thanks for the help anyway folks.

My TV is a 1080p 120hz native TV. And the back of Brutal Legend SAYS it supports 1080i and 1080p* (* - Only supported with HDMI) connection. As for the Upscaling how does one do this? I went to game setting and found the PS Upscaler, but it doesn't do anything. Weither it's set to normal or Full Screen. Nothing Happens. And as for the comment about the 360, lol. I also own a 360, and while I've been enjoying the PS3, EVERYTHING on the 360 runs at 1080p and regardless of the title, Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 Included, the games always look way better than on my ED TV. Not saying one is better than the other, but the ignorance just eats me. Well anyway, your folks help has at least cured my worry that my PS3 was damaged or some such like that. Obviously I'm not the only one with this problem so at least I know it's not MY PS3 specifically, just that the PS3 doesn't really go that high....

On a side note, I find it very amusing that Sony advertises and has some how brain washed people into thinking it is the ONLY HD system, when infact owning both systems myself I know that the 360 actually presents more content in full 1080p while the PS3 seems to tap out at 720p on almost everything. All this HDMI stuff just doesn't seem to mean much more than people buying a very expensive cable when compaired to component cables. More money from the consumer, that's about it. Yay for consumerism.

So basically, even if the games for the PS3 do SAY supports 1080i/p on the back of the box, this is basically just a lie? BTW, I have 'forced' Brutal Legend, by turning off the 720p option, sadly I cannot turn off the 480p option and Brutal Legend defaults to 480p instead of going up like Killzone 2 does. I'd get this for the 360 just so I can play it in 1080p but I'm just tired of all the technical issues the 360 offers, in terms of disc eating and failure. Seems there is no perfect system, one doesn't do full HD the other has hardware failures :(

So I just got a PS3 due to the price drop, but I didn't get a slim I got a old PS3. I got it plugged in through HDMI and everything and heres my problem, EVERYTHING runs at 720p. Nothing runs at 1080 anything even games that claim too. Here's the strange part, I got Killzone 2 with my PS3 (love it btw) and it runs in 720p mode, BUT if I go into my PS3s settings, go to output settings and turn OFF 720p as a availible output mode, THEN Killzone 2 will play in 1080i. My TV does support 1080p, it's a Samsung Series 5 or something I think, but it's full 1080p with 120hz. Anyone have a similar issue or know what my PS3 is doing and how to fix it? I just got Brutal Legend and REALLY want to run it at 1080p which the back of the box says requires HDMI, which is fine, I'm USING HDMI. OH, also, my PS3 dashboard runs at 1080p, so my PS3 can auto detect the res it seems, but the games don't... I have no idea what the heck is going on. When I first set the system up I let it auto detect resolutions, after I started having problems I went through the settings and re-did it manually. I have no other problems with the PS3, games run fine and like I said, my XMB and Blu Ray movies play at a Full 1080p. Only games don't seem to get it.

You need a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot. If you DO have that, you can get a card cheap. If not, you can't truly run crysis. Second, what is your CPU? A low end CPU really effects preformance too you know. Finally you need some good ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166 I recommend this. It's cheap and preforms great. Make sure your MoBo supports both the PCI-e and the RAM before purchasing. My guess is if you can't run Crysis now, you will need to replace your PC entirely because it's probably quite out of date. Not supporting PCI-E 2.0 x16, DDR2 8500 (1066) RAM or Supporting CoreDuo 775LGA socket stuff either. Either way, good luck.

Thanks folks, I decided to just do this right. I bought a cleaning solution from Arctic, it's a two step compound that emulsifies the thermal compound then the second step purifies the surfaces. I bought a brand new Arctic CX2 compound, it's supposed to be better and easier to use than the Arctic Silver 5 I got. Finally I bought a big new beefy heat sink, it's nasty. I hope it's not too large, it's just slightly smaller than the Arctic 7 Cooler I bought which was too big. If it is I'm pulling out the files and just filing the damn thing down. This stock stuff is stupid, I'm putting a real cooler on this baby.

Okay so heres my issue folks, I'm runing a homemade PC. It's a FULL ATX case, with a 360mm side case fan for air input, a front 240mm fan for input and a 120mm 12 blade high speed exhaust fan for output. That's my cooling solution. Here's my problem...

I'm getting really funky heat issues, to the point where my PC is just blacking out on me. But ONLY with games, any games. I've been having rising heating issues for a couple weeks now but it's truly getting funky. Here's the deal. Upon Boot my Bios reports just random numbers basically, 50-70c. Okay. So I'm using CPUiD and SpeedFan to check my temps and they report about 42-52c on idle, which seems fine. The SECOND and I meant SECOND I hit an icon to launch a game, it skyrockets. By Skyrockets I mean it goes from 50c to 100c in about 10 seconds. That's not a joke, I'm giving you the legit time frame on that mess. So I've done two things on this as well. A, I pull my side panel off and put a industrial floor fan (you know the ones that get so loud you can't talk to someone right next to you) literally a foot from the case and put it on max. This had NO effect on the heat rise. The second I launch a game, in about 10 seconds it starts getting into triple digit temps. B- After the fan I turn on my system and let the CPU get to about 105c, after that I held the power button and turned it off. I IMMEDIATELY put my hand directly on, not above I made skin contact with the CPU fan and it was room temp if not slightly below. Now I don't know a ton about thermodynamics or the physics of heat transference, but I would assume if the CPU was going at over 200 degree Fahrenheit that the heat would transferr up through the fan system and it would at LEAST be slightly warm. I'm not sure what to think, on the one hand it seems like a sensor issue, but the damn thing IS blacking out and auto killing it's self.

Side Note - On system boot up, if I go into Bios and go to PC Health Status, I can watch the PC temp steadily rise. Seriously it just keeps going up, so I'm guessing the boot up is also doing what the games do, because even in the basic Bios it just keeps cooking, which says something is off because the Bios runs directly from the MoBo and is very light on CPU demand. Second, I've run other programs, like Winamp and it causes no problem. A degree or so increase in temp but what do you expect going from idle to a minimum load. As long as I can make it to the Windows desktop my system idles back at 42-52, but if Boot up takes to long, or I run a game, my CPU temp just continues to rise until blackout and auto shutdown.

Any real help would be useful folks, I'm considering flashing my Bios though I doubt that will do much if anything. My second option is removing the fan, reapplying thermal paste and checking, but after hitting 90c+ I"m afraid of having melting the glue binding the CPU and the heat plate and having the plate stuck to the FAN base and killing the CPU if I remove it. Plus the damn fan is nearly impossible to get off and on the MoBo. The Mobo I got was not friendly when installing the CPU fan.

MoBo- Gigabyte:EP45-DS3L
CPU - IntelDuo 3.16 Ghz, I believe a Wolfdale chipset.

Also - Just popped into my head, when I go into my Bios I keep seeing my Multiplier for my CPU is resetting to 6 instead of 9. The CPU is a 3.16 Ghz CPU, at 6 it is only running at 2 but still heats up. At 9 it reaches the 3.16ghz it's supposed to run at. Interestingly enough I've found that neither 6 or 9 make ANY difference in the rate at which it heats up.
