I think the most approachable RPG would be Mass Effect 2, it's a fast paced shooter with lots of RPG Elements. It has all the ingredients, but simplified compared to real RPG's. But i really can't recommend it before Mass Effect 1. Knights of the Old Republic is one of the greatest RPG's i have ever played, but it's probably a bit dated. Fallout 3 or NV is a good choice, because you can tackle the game however you want(FPS,Melee etc.), but it might be a bit overwhelming. Personally i'd recommend New Vegas, for me it was much easier to get into. Dragon Age is absolutely a fantastic RPG, with a great storyline, but if you never played RPG's it can be a bit punishing. Though if you understand the mechanics it actually has a quite tactical and fun combat system.

These are i think the easiest to get into, because they are pretty new, very good games aimed at a more mainstream public.

If i have a good game i can really get into, i have been known to ditch class and play several hours every day.. If there is nothing, i can go without for about a month, then i will start over with a game i never finished. I cant go two days without checking sites like gamespot to keep track of new game releases though!

Activision really knows how to work the market.. They get people to buy the same game every year! Just to play multiplayer against eachother. Anyway i am skeptical about any game above a 9.0. This game certainly doesn't deserve a score like that! I haven't played this one yet, but i bet it's the same as the last one. Wake me up when they dare change something real..

Dragon Age dialogue is very good in general.. especially between Allistair and Morrigan in Lothering! Shouldn't forget the dog though..

By far.. Mass Effect 2! Another surprisingly fun game was Divinity II: Ego Draconis. I was also properly entertained by Amnesia and Bad Company2
