@thageorgian: People don't like delays though. I'd chose to not know about a game until it's ready as opposed to knowing about a game for 2-3 years and multiple delays. And yes, I do wish press conferences would decrease in time until they don't exist anymore. I would love to live in a world where games are announced 2 months before they release, that way everyone knows that most games will never be delayed. Some people like to sit on things for years, though, and that's fine too. Different strokes for different folks.
@thageorgian: Sure, I agree that they could've not had a conference, but 2018 and 2019 are too far in the future to draw any conclusions. Games are delayed, studios are shut down, this industry is too fast paced for a gestation time of 1.5+ years.
@jski: They could have announced games that are years out, but they don't do that, and neither should Sony or Microsoft. When a dev or pub shows a game like Death Stranding that's so far in the future there isn't even gameplay, then I don't care about their game. Showing those unannounced games would have wasted everyone's time.
@thageorgian: Honestly though, everything they showed is coming out in less than six months. That's impressive and immediate, and I wish every pub would follow suit. I don't care about games coming out in 2019, and I sure as hell don't care about Death Stranding, which will probably release on the PS5.
@hobobo: Really? The Keira Metz line? The scavenger hunts that lead to Witcher gear? The Gwent quests? Not to mention all the Blood and Wine quests. The consensus seems to be that the Witcher 3 had some of the best side quests to ever grace the screens of gaming, but to each their own, I suppose.
@Zombie8814: What makes you say that? Personally, I felt Uncharted 4 was the best entry in the series, and it was the consensus GOTY last year (which was tough b/c of Overwatch).
I'm so close to finishing Horizon, but I can't bring myself to do the deed. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I just don't understand why this game is so lauded. Maybe I'm just spoiled with the Witcher 3's side quests.
Boy, I wish every game were announced 7 years in advance so then we can have even more glorious delays! Honestly, Rockstar shouldn't have announced RDR 2 so far in advance. If every game were announced a month before it was released, I wouldn't have any complaints.
