1. Steel Battalion (XB) w/ Line of Contact and complete controller. Does anything say elitist (mecha-obsessed) gamer snob like "I own Steel Battalion"? 2. Killer 7 (PS2) An avant-garde artistic experience, bizarre in sublime fashion, never mind how incredibly awkward the gameplay is - that's just part of the experience. It even has a lucha-libre wrestler - not as hot as La Mariposa in DOA4, but he does have a cape. And dual grende launchers. GS was very much on the mark in naming Harman Smith the cool new character of the year last year. 3. Alien Hominid (PS2) That touch of indie that everyone else is too mainstream to know about. "Oh, you thought it was just a flash game? How... uninformed of you..." 4. Alundra (PSX) - No "I'm cool 'cause I own this" list would be complete without a dual-disc case, foil-insert, PlayStation 1 RPG. Preferably a good one brought to the states by a now-defunct company so that one can launch into lamenting the studio's closure whenever anyone brings it up. Ah, those poor misunderstood geniuses at Working Designs! Alas that the commercialism of the modern gaming industry plowed such a company under. You get the idea. 5. Ninja Gaiden Black (XB) - "No, I don't own Ninja Gaiden." "Well then how can you call yourself hardcore?" "I own Ninja Gaiden BLACK." "..." "Yeah, that's right. The original was just... too easy for me." Never mind that I'm just starting my first playthrough of the game - it's that mental impact of people seeing the box.
