When you think about it, Bruce Wayne and Frank Castle are both the darkest heroes in their comic franchises. Neither of them have any superpowers and still take the law into their own hands. But I guess what impresses me the most is how both of them push their vigilante ways to a point where the people they save question their patriotism towards justice.

The minor difference I see is that the Punisher is fueled by vengeance, and he's a lot more unstable and violent than Batman is. Which actually makes this duel a lot more sweeter. Wayne would most definately disagree with the extreme measures the Punisher does to bring justice into the world, and even see him as an enemy that brings more sorrow than peace. And seriously...what would Batman do when he sees the people he's trying to send to jail just torn to shreds by the Punisher? The conflict wouldn't just be about their own view of right and wrong, it would be about going too far.

We've all seen heroes quarrel before, but what's so dramatic is that these two are so much alike, except one tries hard to supress his urge to go over the limit, and the other one embraces it. These are clearly the good guys that fight the war against crime in ways that no other heroes do: normal people with a disturbed and tragic past playing the part of the misunderstood savior.

I don't know, it was just an idea I was brainstorming all morning. And the more I think about it, the more I wish Marvel and DC would merge together and make epic crossover battles. What do you guys think?
