EA, Who Do They Think They Are.

In A Recent Newsweek Article, CEO Larry Probst Of Electronic Arts Said This Regarding Sony's PSP: "I think what moves the needle is a new form factor that's smaller than the existing unit, at a lower price, and hopefully that price is US$100 or lower".

"Moves The Neddle"? Is he Saying The Needle Is Heading Toward Empty? But Then Why Are Sales Of the PSP Up 280%! In North America. And A Lower Price. If They Want To Make Games For A Hand Held With A Lower Price Then Maybe They Should Focus On Porting Games To The DS Rather Than The PSP. When Asked If EA Was Possibly Developing New IP For The PSP He Replies, "It's more likely that we would target platforms like the PS3, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii if we had an original in mind. Our strategy on PSP has typically been to take the franchises that we build on other platforms and exploit them on the PSP".

First Off I Don't Like The Word "Exploit". Lets Take A Moment To Define That Word. Exploit - to utilize, esp. for profit; turn to practical account, to use selfishly for one's own ends. This May Be Definition Number 2 But It Fits Well When Someone From EA Is Using The Word.

Second. "if we had an original in mind". Since When Has Anything EA Been Original. EA Is A Company Of Series. Sports Game Series, Racing Game Series, and Don't Forget Movie Games (They Get Extra Money From The Movie Production Companies For Those). Originallity? Look At The Burnout Series For Example. EA Didnt Create Such A Unique Game. Acclaim Did. And When EA Saw The Game Rise In Popularity They Snathced It From Them.

Sure The New Madden For The Wii Could Be Considered Original. With The Nun-Chuck Controls And All. But Even When You Think About That.... Look At It This Way. Nintendo Has A New Console. EA Wants.... Needs To Do Like It Does With Every Other Game And Port It On All Systems. So They Scramble and Come Up With A Way To Play The Game With The Wii's Unique Controler System. In The End The Originallity Goes To Nintendo On Thie One Not EA.

So It Comes Down To This. Summarizing, EA CEO Larry Is Basically Saying This, The PSP Is Doing Bad Because Of Its High Price.

Yet As PSP Sales Grow EA Has Yet To Release An Original PSP Game.

Because They Want You To Have Your Cake and Eat It Too...

As Of Yesterday Sony Released Its Much Anticipated Software Update 3.0 For The Playstation Portable. And While Some Were Disappointed In The Lack Of Rumored Features I Had Low Expectations To Begin With. I Mean After All, Everything We Knew For The Most Part Was Rumor.

So From What I Got I Was Satisfied. From What Iv Had, This Was The "Most Significant" Update Yet.

With It:
- UMD Start Up on/off Option
- Visualisations With Music Player (5 In All, 6 Including Random)
- Faster fastforward/rewind speeds (3x faster option)
- Online Insturction Manual
- Camera Ready (For The Furture Release Of The PSP Camera)
- Remote Play With The PS3
- Plays PS1 Emulated Games Via Downloading Them Through The PS3 Via The Playstation Online Store.

This Last Feature While Very Innovative and An Excellent Addition To The PSP, It Has Some Red Flags To Go Along.

Not Only For The Time Being (It Is, Like Everything Else, Rumored That Eventually PS1 Titles Will Be Avalible Via The Internet Or Wifi Connect For Download) Do You Have To Have A PS3. Hear Are Some Other Snags.

In This Recent News Article

Sony States Prices For The PS1 Titles Will Range From $5.99 to $10.99. This Im Ok With. Its Simlar To iTunes Which I Support. I Feel The Prices Are Fare and Reasonable.

But Also Note Worthy In The Above Article Is The Size Said Games Will Take Up On Your PSP. 140-550 MB!

I Personally Have 2, 1 GB Memory Cards. One For Which I Store Music and One For Which I Have Videos. So In The Near Future I May Interuse The Video Card For Games and Video But Still. I Know That These Sizes Most Likely Are As Scaled Down As They Will Come, But 1-4 Games Per Memory Card Cme Down To Sony Whispering In Our Little Ears "Buy More Memory Cards"

I For One Will Not. Im In College. Im On A Tight Buget So As It Is. I Know That All I Need To Do Is Delete A Game and Put A New One On When I Feel Like Changing. But What Sony Is Doing Buy This Is Marketing Off Of Lazy America. They Know That People Will Want To Be Able To Pop That Emulated Game In And Play It. So Once Again, Right Back To The Fact That They Want You To Buy More Memory Cards (Or Higher Sized Ones). They Want You To Have Your Cake and Be Able To Eat It Too......

I To This Day Am and Always Will Be A Sony Fanboy. Not Only Do I Love Them For Gaming, But Electronics In General. I Just Feel That Sony Is Milking Us Big With This One. Just Like The "Cows" We Are.

Apollo Bars and Lobster

Yeh So They Have This Niffty Thing Going On With The TV Show Lost. Since Being On Break Over The Summer They Have Had Fun With Lost Fans By Teasing Us With Websites, Videos, and Now Even Candy Bars. Long Story Short The Only "Name Brand" (Buts Its Not Even A Real Brand) Item Of Food On Lost Is The Odd Apollo Candy Bar. Well As Part Of The Myth Of The Show They Began Handing These Things Out And Being At One Of The Drop Points (Philadelphia) I Went To Pick One Up.

Was A Nice Sunny Day.... Stoped Down To Rittenhouse Square To Just Glance and Scout Things Out... It Was A Commerce Bank Funded Carnival Of Dogs.... Anyway Went To Smith and Wollensky's There Was An Acura Parked Outside... Part Of The RDX Tour.... But I saw People Walking Out With Bars So I Went In... I Was Told Second Level So Up I Went and At The Top Of The Stairs Sure Enough There The Bar Hand Out Was.... Now I
Didnt Have To Be Registered To Get One But The *Free*
Survey/Registration Was Well Worth It.... With The VIP Paper I Registered For I Got Me A Bag w/ Another Bar... A 125mb USB Drive and Multitool 2 Nice Pens And A Copy Of ESPN and Wired Magazines.....

I Figured Even Though I Got My Bar... I'd Still Stay To LookAround... In The VIP Room They Had Some "Beverages" (To Bad Im Under
21) and Orderves... Although I Really Would Not Consider Lobstertail, Jumbo Shrimp, Crab Claws, and Prime Rib Orderves But Hey It Was Free
(And When Your In College You'll Eat Free Food Till Your Sides Hurts Just To Stay Alive). They Also Had A Very Large TV Playing Previews For The Upcoming ABC Fall Season... Including Lost.... O And To All Lost Fans That Are Reading This And Don't Already Know There Is A Great Lost Union Right Here On Gamespot.....

I Got A PSP and Then Some....

I Did Some Shopping This Weekend.....

First Off I Got A (And The Last) 1 GB Memory Stick That Was On Sale at Staples Office Supply For $40.00

Having This I Went Next For The PSP.....

FYE (For Your Entertainmen - A CD/Video/Games Store for Those That Don't Have These) Had An Advertised PSP Core System for $179.99 after $20.00 Mail in Rebate... So I Went There.....

I Ask For The Advertised Core System and The Clerk Rings Me Up.... The Price Comes Up $249.99 and I Clarify That I Wanted The Core System Not The Vaue Pack..... Ok No Problem.... But When He Comes Back For The "Expensive Stuff Storage He Tells Me That The Have No More Core Systems.... Frustrated I Begin To Walk Away.... Thanks Any Way.... But Then He Stops Me and Says He'll Give Me The Value Pack for $199.99 but also Mentions that Because of The Different UPC Barcode The Rebate would Not Apply..... Ok no Biggie I'm Still Saving $50. So He Rings Me Up..... And He As Stunned As I Was.... Explains That It Still Gave Me The $30 Rebate.....

In The End I Got A Value Back for $169.99.... $80 Cheaper Than Normal Price.....
