@loveblanket: Technically correct - same example as Ubisoft's Season Passes, i.e. if, and only if, there is story content that comes in a Delux or some other kind of premium bundle, I do purchase it once it is $15 for the whole lot, which usually comes with a bunch of nonsense which I never even browse. In that respect, yes, I have purchased microtransactions.
Can't help but feel that micro transactions are geared towards the young gamers who don't give it much of a thought which is a point in case that they need government regulation like they do in the UK. Loot boxes for example are plain theft. The way they work is akin to a casino, yet, the "customer", aka "prey" is some 14-year old who got hold on to daddy's credit card.
I'm a 40-year old lifelong gamer with c.500 completed titles under my belt and I never in my life paid for cosmetics. Excessive DLCs with Season Passes like Ubisoft games, I only purchase 2-3 years later on heavy discounts as someone else mentioned above. My backlog of good titles without this plague is long enough anyway in the meantime...
If you want to combine "platformer" with "modern" and "insane difficulty", try BloodRayne: Betrayal. Besides being a real challenge, this game is also the best BloodRayne game.
@RedBarDragon @unikat Same here :D! Back in the days, I would finish Contra without a hiccup, but I recently bought Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection and got my ass handed to me numerous times on easy games like Streets of Rage 3 that I used to be an insane god at :D.
I don't understand all that love for Liara. Not talking about Jess, but the guys here. Come on! How about Isabella from Dragon Age 2. You have to admit that this is usually the type of girls we go after in real life, despite being a painfully obvious bad idea.
There is also one that no one seems to remember but if you like your girls blue-skinned, how about Viconia DeVir from Baldur's Gate?
This is definitely the Wii U week. There is so much rant about how the Wii U failed all over the internet, from game forums to the Financial Times, that I think this console is finally getting the media attention it should have had at launch :D. Hell, I am a gamer and I only just now manage to gather a clear picture of what this console is.
Knowing that there is no bad advertisement... :) Sit back and watch - it might not be enough to turn the Wii U into success, but it might just as well help them reach their new sales target :D!
I stumbled upon an article on the Financial Times yesterday which detailed the hit the market capitalization of Nintendo took recently. I was stupefied by how wrong suits get this which was evident both from the explanation given by Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's president, as well as from readers comments. In fact, I honestly believe that if people from Nintendo watch just this one episode of The Gist, they will have all their misses summarised and can get down to fixing them.
Seriously, Jess, have you considered applying to Nintendo?
Legion!! He was definitely the best in the whole Mass Effect universe. I loved the whole AI developing consciousness idea and was so very sorry when I lost him at the end of Mass Effect 2, making me kill him again in Mass Effect 3. Losing that only robot had greater impact on my story perception than all the brothers, sisters and moms I lost in Dragon Age 2.
