I'm actually having a similar issue..

I'll play for like 15 - 20 minutes, and then the framerate will drop super low. So low that I can't even navigate the menus, and that is not an exaggeration.

I'm running..

i5 2500k quadcore @3.30GHx

EVGA GTX 460

6GB ram

I get BF3 on High setting with 35-40FPS average, so I doubt it's a hardware issue, but what do I know. lolz

I'm running SR3 at max by the way, besides for AA and A-Filtering or whatever.

Yeah, they're good if you're a horror fan and if you like FPS games.

Does anyone play them? Online? I dunno about PS3, but the first one is completely dead on every other platform, so I assume the same on PS3. The second one it pretty dead as well, last time I checked. I'm sure there's people playing the third game.

Yeah, I was using Fraps.

So, this PC build is overpriced? Those are all from Newegg.ca, and the prices seem to be the same on every site that I've checked (Amazon and Tigerdirect). =\

No, it needs a quad for minimum, or your going to be playing at less than 20FPS, its just a horribly optimized game. The 460 and 6850 won't be maxxing out GTA4, it literally is again a minimum, it also needs the 1GB VRAM, the 896RAM on the 260 will not be able to handle GTA4, you will get a lot of texture pop-in.

lolz Weird, because I can max out GTA IV with my GTX 460. I was able to play it with normal fps too. =S

Well what do you consider normal FPS? and what res are you playing at?

1920x1080. I was a tad mistaken. View distance and Shadow Quality aren't at max. I just checked and with View Distance set to around 30, and Shadow Quality at High, I get 40 - 45 fps average. Everything else was on max.

GTA4 needs a quadcore to run, basically a i5 2400, and see if you can upgrade the GPU to atleast a GTX460 or 6850.

I'm pretty sure GTA IV only need a quad for recommended settings. As for the GPU.. she doesn't wanna spend the extra $40 - $50 on a better GPU that she wont need. What I meant by "don't need" is that, like I said, she doesn't care for max settings, and will play on the lowest, so a better GPU isn't worth it to her. She wants the cheapest she can go, but also wants to at least be able to run most games. Well, games that she'd wanna run, which, like I also said, will be older games.

Prices seem way to high (where are you buying these parts ?). I put together a quick list on newegg with the same case, windows 7, dvd drive/burner, 4gigs of ram, 460 GTX 1GB video card(more powerful), intel i5 processor (much faster processor)and a decent powersupply all for $680 ($630 including rebates). Only thing I forgot was harddrive

Newegg as well. The Canadian site.

Sorry if everything seems cluttered, but the Gamespot forum won't let me do it any other way.
