This weekend was pretty boring so I hit the movies with some friends and after seeing Paranormal Activity and Zombieland, I had to write a blog. Now as some of you guys know already I love horror. Well when the trailer for this movie said it was the scariest of the decade and all the people I know who went to see it said it was amazing, I had to check it out. Now, for those of you who do not know what this is yet, let me help you out: Paranormal Activity is an indie flick that managed to scary the living crap out of people using the Blair Witch-esque type of film. The movie doesn't really scare you as much as I thought. Now, I'm not a ghost/spirit/demon-believing individual but this movie gave me some straight chills. The idea of sleeping in your bed at night and having a demon spirit totally wreck your world, I had to see it. Needless to say I didn't get nightmares (though I wish I did!) but the movie left me breathless because the creep-status of this movie is off the scale. Now, I'm planning a trip to Jerome, AZ where there's a very haunted hotel and I'm wipping out a oujia board.
Zombieland was the next flick in my persuit. Those of you should know I love zombies as well so I definitely wanted to see this first. I managed to get to see it after Paranormal Activity and I gotta be honest with you, if you plan on seeing both, watch Zombieland first because after the spook-ness of Paranormal Activity this movie didn't do too much but make me chuckle. Naturally even the most funny zombie movies have some scares but Zombieland really based it's wacked-out romance tale toward the humor and fun-ness of zombie killing. This should be a natural win for zombie gamers but for me it was nothing more than a movie that made me wish the apocalypse was happening sooner than the expected 2012.
Overall, these two movies were 8+ and I definitely recommend seeing 'em both! Signing off.
