@Byshop: Nope, it's working now.

I'm browsing to the reviews at http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/.
I click on the link leading to the Darkest Dungeon review: http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/darkest-dungeon-review/1900-6416354/
All I get is a 500: Internal Server Error.
I want to read the review!
Totally agree. It's 3 January now and this bug is still not fixed. All posts are denoted as being posted more than a year ago on the front page. It's NOT 2017 yet GameSpot.
Hi,
The following ad annoys me:
http://s24.postimg.org/heg4jttl1/advertisement.png
It's an ad by VGZ. I live in The Netherlands.
The problem is that it auto-plays sound. And the ad loops, so when it's done talking it begins from the start again. Another problem is that it's right on top of the content, it blocks view of the content. So I can't read what's written underneath the ad.
I trust that you will remove the ad. Thanks.
Here's another picture of the ad: http://s23.postimg.org/hghmnsj5n/advertisement2.png

Needless to say, this is a very annoying bug...
This is what Gamespot.com looks like in Firefox 40, in The Netherlands:

The ad for Fifa 16 is literally blocking the view of the Gamespot content. This cannot be how it is supposed to look...
@tsunami2311: Thanks. Didn't work for me though. I still got the player for adblock users today, even though I have gamespot whitelisted all the time.
I found an easier solution than deleting all my cookies though. You can go to Firefox Options - Privacy - Delete individual cookies. And then delete the Gamespot folder. That worked for me. And you can keep all your other cookies that way. So you don't have to re-enter your login info on the dozens of other sites you visit.
I don't have a program called "AdBlock" installed. Me writing it that way in the first post is an error. My adblocker is called Adblock Plus.
I need to have Adblock Plus installed to protect me from malicious ads on some sites. I have a lot of sites whitelisted if I know they only serve safe ads (gamespot.com is whitelisted as well, as I mentioned in the first post). But a lot of other sites regularly serve ads with viruses inside them, these ads try to exploit vulnerabilities in the browser or in plugins and then infect your system with a trojan. Even very well-known and respected sites occassionally accidentally serve malicious ads, it's just too big of a risk to disable adblock plus completely. I use this computer for things like banking, making online payments etc as well.
First time I opened http://www.gamespot.com/videos/the-point-e3-2015-what-a-wonderful-surprise/2300-6425700/ I got the video player for adblock users, with no quality options. Even though I've had Gamespot whitelisted for at least a month now. So yeah, I do have AdBlock installed but it is disabled for Gamespot and has been for the past month.
I tried to get the regular player by clearing all my cookies. But now the video will not appear altogether. I've reloaded the page countless times with F5 and Ctrl+F5 and the video refuses to appear. I even made a new Firefox profile and tried that: result is no video as well. The video does appear in IE or Chrome. In Firefox, the video does appear here: http://www.gamespot.com/shows/the-point/
Update: appears to be some sort of caching issue. I have now pressed Ctrl+F5 again after a 10 minute wait and now the video does appear.
Anyways, but there is still this bug that you give the video player meant for adblock users to people that have whitelisted Gamespot for the past month (and I cleared my cookies at least several times during that month, so the problem can't be old cookies). What's up with that Gamespot?
Your site should work fine with Adblock installed but the entire gamespot.com domain whitelisted. I mean, you can't expect people to remove Adblock altogether right?
@edgework: It is very hard for me to show you the advertisements that cause this problem. Sometimes an ad pops up, but often not. I think the main problem is with what I would call "invisible ads". These "invisible ads" do not appear on the page visually, they just eat up lots of CPU power and are memory-hungry. They also cause memory to be leaked. But to an unsuspicious user it would seem that there are no advertisements on the page at all.
So, to sum it up. I visit http://www.gamespot.com/gallery/all-the-games-that-won-t-be-at-e3-2015/2900-180/ without an adblocker installed. I browse through the images. After each click to the next picture I wait for 15 seconds for any ads to appear. No ads appear most of the time. But there is high CPU usage for at least 5 seconds after each visit, and memory climbs steadily. This indicates that some type of invisible ads are loaded.
Here is a screenshot (this is without an adblocker!): http://i.cubeupload.com/54QF9h.png As you can see, no ads are visible to me. But there are invisible ads eating up memory and CPU.
If I visit http://www.gamespot.com/gallery/all-the-games-that-won-t-be-at-e3-2015/2900-180/ with an adblocker installed, I also see no ads. But there are no invisible ads loaded now. Browsing through the images is very quick, it doesn't eat CPU power and memory doesn't really climb.
Ok, I've done additional testing now. I've managed to find some ads that caused quite a climb in memory usage:
memory usage went from 556 MB to 650 MB because of this ad: http://i.cubeupload.com/bRJXgg.png
memory climbed from 650 to 680 MB: http://i.cubeupload.com/acUo0l.png
memory climbed from 680 to 710 MB http://i.cubeupload.com/8TmXtG.png
memory went from 710 to 780 back to 720 MB http://i.cubeupload.com/3pZkNR.png
memory climbed a lot http://i.cubeupload.com/cIua7a.png
However, I should note that there were also very sharp climbs in memory usage with no visible ads appearing, the invisible ads caused that. So I suggest you do your own investigation as well.
Perhaps it would be best if you could just switch to a different ad network for The Netherlands. I don't know if that's easily done, but the current one does not play well with Firefox.
