XIIAxelCrossIIX Blog

So.... It's been a while.

Hey everyone (or anyone reading this still), it's been a while since I have updated this thing, about a month. I've been on and off the site, mostly at Nintendo's forums. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm finally coming back for good, I've gotten all the crap worked out here and have left many of the unions I was previously in, mainly because many of them are falling apart.

I've been pretty busy with work, and I'm finally saving up for the next-gen games and systems. I've decided fully (although it was half-way decided about a month ago) that I'm going to get the Wii, it seems perfect for me. I'm sad to see the Final Fantasy series slowly fading away from me, as I probably won't ever get a PS3, it's to much of an investment, and although I love video games, I don't love it enough to spend upwards to $1,000, including games and such.

The Wii will be much more affordable, and as opposed to the PS3, I'll be able to get the Wii this Christmas and will be playing games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, and most exciting, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and The Tower of Mirrors, which has proven to be quite an interesting concept. I do admit that I'm extremely sad to see where Square-Enix is going, and I don't support it, but I am still very much into Final Fantasy and Square-Enix, just not anything new, so don't misconstrue my statement, I'm not moving away from them.

^ Yes, I'm still supporting Square-Enix, just their old games and some of the recent ones. Long live the classics, I say!

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I didn't dissapear or die,  heh. I hope to see all of you on the boards, and I hope everyone has been having a good Summer and is doing alright. I won't be nearly as active as I was a month ago, or before that, but I will still be active. Don't expect me to get on everyday though, I have a lot of things going on right now, especially my work. Take care everyone, talk to you soon!

Problem solved. I'm back!....once again

Well, it seems as though all the crap in our family is finally sorted out. It's now Summer officially (took a few days to stop waking up automatically at 5...) and I am now officially back on the job full force. I must say, I missed this place quite a big, it's been a real bore without all of you to talk with and such. Just for those of you interested (or just plain nosey), basically the divorce that my dad got from my mother came back to bite us in the ass, that's all I'll say about that. In the end, everything worked out to me and my dad's advantage, and everything is going pretty good right now.

Well, a few things have changed since I left a few weeks ago (weeks? I can't remember..). I've gotten the trial version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0, and even though I'm still very, very new at it, and I'm still learning just the very basics, I think I'm doing alright for a beginner at it. You can see my beginning work on my profile banner and the blog banner.

In terms of games, I'm actually very disappointed in the PS3 to tell you guys the truth, very disappointed... It's sad to me, really it is, considering the fact that I'm addicted to the Final Fantasy series. And anyone who knows a flip about FF and Square-Enix knows that they are loyal to Sony almost to a fault. So I'll be getting the Nintendo Wii to begin with, considering also that I'm an avid Zelda fan, and I'm also an avid Nintendo gamer in general, but not so much as I used to be, but that's going to change, definitely. I think the Wii really is generated towards literally everyone, including those like myself who can't wipe their asses with one-hundred dollar bills and dish out $600 just like that. No offense to Sony, God knows I love 'em, but damn, that is one hefty price for someone who won't use the PS3 for anything else other than gaming.

<$$$$$$$$$$. 'Nuff said.

Anyway, I'm still getting the PS3 eventually, so you Sony addicts who know me fairly well, I'm not betraying Sony, just putting them in second place to Nintendo, whereas it was the other way around before. No big deal, but you'll be hearing a lot more about Mario, Metroid, Zelda, and other Nintendo games and a little bit less of Final Fantasy, but nonetheless, still quite a bit, I simply can't resist it even if I wanted to.

^ Wii will dominate. Fun is back, and so is Nintendo

Other than that (sorry for the huge update and long read, everyone), I'm back full time and I obviously won't be back as much as I used to, as I need to get into shape, and my girlfriend was feeling a little neglected, so I need to spend some more time with her, also. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing alright and grand, and it's very good to be back. I'll see everyone on the boards, I'm sure! Take care!!

The Wii and me!

Sorry, I had to throw that in there. Also, some of you may have noticed that my other blog post is gone. Well don't ask me what happened, I have no idea. It didn't get modded, I didn't delete it, so I have no idea what happened, I'll just replace it with this one.

Anyway, back on track. Now that most of you have seen the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that most people are leaning towards the Wii now. I say "pleasantly" because I, too have begun to lean towards the Wii. I mean, don't get me wrong, I literally love everything about the PlayStation 3, literally every single piece of it, I have no complaints about the system itself whatsoever, really. Except....that God forsaken price. I know it's the next generation, and I even have a job right now for Summer vacation, so I'm sure I can save up. But even so, it's a steep price. Don't take this as me complaining, because I'm not, but my family right now is on a tight budget, so it's just bad luck. So I think I'm going to go with the Wii, but in all honesty I probably won't know until I actually go to the store to reserve one of them.

Also, there is one thing I want in my games nowadays, more than graphics, fun factor, or anything else. One small thing: innovation. If there is no innovation in my games, I'm starting to move away from it, even if it's something that I would normally like. And if nothing else, that's what the Wii has most of all, innovation. Plus, I'm a huge, huge Nintendo fan, and as much as I love them, there were only about 10 games, maybe not even that, that I liked on the Gamecube, so I'm ready for a new, fresh, hot system to come out, and I think the Wii has that for me.

Wii are innovative.

I mean, we're already getting The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on it with the intuitive controls, and Nintendo is already hard at work on the next version (and has been, from the looks of it). Also, Nintendo has been known for a sloppy launch title, then to pick up later on in the game (the DS is the perfect definition of this). But the Wii seems to have a very strong launch line-up so far.

Just look at me....look at my sexiness. Meow.

Anyway, other than that, I'm having a "mid-life teen crisis" at the moment, my family is going through a tough time right now, but it's nothing to serious. It's just very stressful, so I regretfully resigned from my position as officer from The Final Fantasy Union (miss you guys already), so if you're looking to fill in an officer position in a huge, awesome union, and you're an avid Final Fantasy player, my position is open! Run, run, run! Heh, but in all honesty, I'll most likely (hopefully) be back at the end or middle of the summer (July or August), due to the family things I mentioned earlier.

I'm extremely excited for the Wii, I mean I'm getting all of my favorite series (except Final Fantasy....at least not the mainstream ones) on a low priced, innovative, awesome system. But like I said before, I doubt I'll actually decided till I'm at the stores, standing there, pondering all of this while the cashier is sitting there thinking "Hurry the hell up..." haha. That's all I have for now, only 2 more weeks left of school for me, then it's Summer vacation and the Nintendo DS Lite! Take care everyone, I hope everyone is doing alright, I'll update in a few weeks!

As the game drought continues...I see the Lite!

Yes, the Lite. No, I'm not going retarded, I spelled it right. The Nintendo DS Lite! Corny, I know it. Anyway, as you probably noted in my past blog, I'm still "video game depressed", but that seems to be lifting, as the Lite is coming out, and it seems my decision to wait to get a DS was a good one, because the Lite is coming June 11! Also, with E3 coming up, I also have Final Fantasy galore; Final Fantasy XII, V, VI, III and the cell phone adaptation, Before Crisis, which looks interesting enough.

I'm planning on getting the Lite once summer hits, I guess as a Summer vacation present to myself and celebration of no school for a few months. Other than that, I'm enjoying my iPod, I highly encourage you music addicts out there to invest in one, it'll save you tons of money in the long run. I'm still not 1/4 full on it and I'm now up to 2,000 songs, 15 videos, and 134 pictures, it's amazing. I do have final exams coming up in the next week or so, which is going to be hell on Earth, and I most definitely won't be blogging at all in that week considering I'll have my nose in the books from hell.

It's oh so depressing to know that there aren't any amazing games coming out in Summer, though. I still think people are insane for not wanting to release them in Summer, considering that most of the video game population are teenagers and younger kids, who have Summer off and time on their hands like no other. Anyway, take care everyone, till next time.

A musical birthday

Well, my birthday was Thursday, and I must say this birthday was very good. I decided to pass on getting a Nintendo DS and wait and buy it myself, and I got an iPod instead, 30 gig. It's very nice...I've already got 1,250 songs, 12 videos, and 89 pictures and it's not even half way full yet, not even near half, it's wonderful. I also got some new CDs: Queensryche, Dream Theater, Rush, and Joe Satriani. Speaking of Joe Satriani, I just went to go see him tonight at the Woodlands Pavilion (I'm in Houston, Texas) along with him and Eric Johnson. It was my first concert, and my what a way to start, it was amazing. Johnson played all his greatest songs, including Cliffs of Dover. As for Satch, he played all the hits, Surfing With The Alien, Always with me, Always with you (one song right there, the 'Always' one), Crushing Day, and obviously a lot from his newest CD, Super Colossal.

Other than that, I just got some accessories for my iPod, I call this birthday the musical b-day. All I got were music things, but then again half of my life is music (the other half being games, nice huh?). My ears are really trashed after that concert, it was loud as hell, but it was oh so awesome. For those of you who are rock addicts like myself, this will mean something to you, for those of you who aren't, just disregard all that I guess, heh.

In terms of games, I guess you'd say I'm "video game depressed" right now. I've beaten Kingdom Hearts II, replayed most of the Final Fantasy games in the past few weeks, and now I have nothing to play, really. I mean, E3 is coming up, so that's huge for me. But nothing huge, nothing blockbuster is coming out until the end of the year, and if not that then at least a few months, maybe a little more. Eh...Summer is always a drag with games, which is so ironic because companies would make oh so much by releasing huge games like Final Fantasy, Zelda, Metroid, etc. all out in the Summer. Anyway, take care everyone!

Join the Final Fantasy Union!!! Along with...the "tag".

As I said, it's been about a week since my last update, but from now on I'll be back to my usual every two or three day update, TAKS (for those non-Texans: a really moronic test) has been killing me, but it's passed now, the exams are over, and I'm back to normal.

Anyway, it's time to promote the ever-so-popular Final Fantasy Union a bit. For those of you who aren't affiliated with FFU, aren't in it, or...*gasp* don't know about us, I'll tell you some history and why FFU is so damn awesome. First off, FFU was formed by our leader, Soulja_West, on Saturday, March 26, 2005. Compared to some of the other officers, I'm fairly new myself, but they've been running it at a constant speed since then, updating thousands upon thousands of people to the latest and greatest Square-Enix news (which up until recently, was only Final Fantasy). There has been ups and downs, officers have left, come, and stayed with us for a while. But with all that, we've always prevailed and came out on top, being the best of the best. Not many unions can say that and not be boasting, FFU is THE best.

So, if you like Square-Enix whatsoever, and especially Final Fantasy, join the Final Fantasy Union for a good time. We've got games, quizzes, tons and tons of information, and an all around top of the line union. Need any help, personal questions? Just PM me or any of the other officers and we'll be sure to help you out the best we can, just kick back and relax!!

Other than that, I've had a really great week. I'm hyping up for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children like no other, along with E3 and the playable version of FF XII. Oh yeah, I got a "Tagger Flirt" emblem!! My "Convivial" emblem seems to be spasming at the moment, one day it'll be there, stay, and then be gone in the next day and stay gone for a week, then come back, it's very odd. Everyone get ready for Square-Enix's E3 booth, it's going to be a bomb! Take care everyone.

WHAT!? There's other companies besides Square-Enix!?!?

That is of course a joke. But honestly, I recently realized that I don't play much other RPGs from other companies besides Square-Enix. So with my birthday coming up (27th...so...close...*reaches out*) I decided to add a couple other games to my list of games to get. I also wanted to be smart about this and rented the games that I had put on my list. The games I tried out are: Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 and Suikoden V.

I had played both of these games for a very brief period of time before at friends house's, but not nearly enough to justify whether I'd buy them or not. I must say, SMT: DDS2 (that's a long abbreviation. And that's an oxymoron...) is a very, very good game. I especially love the art style and music. The music seems to be a mix of techno and hard rock, it's really great. As for Suikoden V, I don't enjoy it as much as SMT: DDS2, but it's also a very good game, the story is one of the most engrossing things I've ever touched upon. So I'm glad I looked into these, I'm looking forward to Atlus' (SMT) new games, I heard they're bringing a Persona 3 to the U.S., which would be amazing.

Anyway, I just wanted to enlighten those of you like myself that have played other RPGs from other companies besides SE, but were hesitant, considering the reign of SE is far from over. I highly suggest trying out the Shin Megami Tensei series, but be warned, if you're religious (I'm Christian myself, but I don't take the storyline of this game to seriously) you might want to check it out first, it has many, many references to another "God" and battling with Lucifer. Also, the SMT games are fairly rare to find new, so unless you like buying used games (I can't stand it...) then either get on Ebay or Amazon...or go out looking right now!

Take care guys 'n gals.

Final Fantasy Fever

I'm nearing the end of Kingdom Hearts II, I'm basically just working on side quests and leveling up for Sephiroth, and then going to go beat it. But now that many of us are finishing up, Final Fantasy is back on my mind, and in full force too. We just got informed about Final Fantasy III for the DS in July (for Japan, not to long after for U.S. most likely), and Disgaeamad informed us of a new voice actor for Final Fantasy XII. You know what that means don't you!? The voice acting is already in full force, which is surprising considering they usually don't start for months afterwards.

Other than that, I'm going to try to beat Final Fantasy VIII again, I'm still raving over the fact that I actually fought alongside Leon in Kingdom Hearts II, heh. I'm also going to buy another DS for my birthday, which is April 27th. I still regret selling my old one, I'm just glad I never got around to selling my games. I can't wait to get online with Metroid Prime: Hunters. I'm also preparing for the amazingly awesome Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, which comes out the 25th, just in time for my b-day. Other than that, I'm going to pick up Radiata Stories and Suikoden V.

That's it for now guys 'n gals. Like I said in my last update, I have TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) next week, so I might not update for a week. Take care everyone.

Slowly moving along...

Well, this is my first update in a week or so. And as most of you have guessed, I've been busy with Kingdom Hearts II, just like most of you. I must say, Gamespot and IGN  have lost a lot of respect from me. What in God's name are they smoking? I don't mean to sound like a fanboy or let the hype get to me, but this game deserves well above a damn 7.6, and a little higher than an 8.7, although that's not too bad. But a 7.6 is outrageous, the intriguing story alone gives this game a 9 at least.

Anyway, aside from that, I've noticed that things have been very quiet. No huge news, rumors, or anything. And E3 is nearing, so this can be bad news, or good news. Bad because it might mean that aside from the usual things, we might not see anything tremendous besides the obvious PS3 and REV news. Good because they might be holding out all the good stuff for E3, only time will tell.

Well, that's all I have for now. School is really pounding me, so I might not be updating as much as I do usually for a week or two, possibly more. But I'll still update every few days. And rest assured, once I beat Kingdom Hearts II, I'll post up a review. I want to post it only when I get 100%, so it probably won't be until Summer vacation starts.

Until then...take care guys 'n gals.

Kingdom Hearts review up just in time for Kingdom Hearts II

Sorry it took so long, guys. I wanted this one to be really good, and although it's not as good as I wanted it to be, I hope you all will like it better than the X review. I did this one in the traditional paragraph by paragraph format, ala Gamespot format. It's fairly long, and I decided not to put in any spoilers, so for those of you reading that haven't beaten the game, don't be afraid to read the full review. If there is anything left out in the review, please don't be afraid to give some constructive criticism. I was slightly rushed because of school pummeling me, but I think it's fairly good, better than the last.

Other than that, nothing to report from me other than it'll be very hard to sleep tonight. If and when I do go to sleep, I'll be dreaming of going to EB Games to pick up Kingdom Hearts II and holding in my hands, Zelda style. "Da da da daaaa!!"..."You got Kingdom Hearts II!!" Hoo rah!!!

Take it easy, guys 'n gals.
