Yup just me and the rest of the world want this option on all games.. these are my notes on a long search of a solution DXWind - not stable 3D Analyze - stabler, not stable I think all you need to do is right click on the link in your start menu, click on properties, where it says path type -w after the last quotation mark and hit ok or somethign like that. I'm not too sure so someone else in the forum might want to verify it. I'd be interested to know this too. I tried one way of doing it, adding -w -r640x480 to shortcut target, worked for SimCity 3k, but GTA SanAndreas just seems to ignore it. I know in Halo you do it like this on the shortcut to load the game - "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -window Well I found this for GTA : San Andreas which is what I wanted. http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/G...eSmithers;44374 Description: Allows you to play GTA SA in a window instead of full screen... Works fully, have tried it already. alt + enter. try the Compatibility Wizard Hi! How do you run Call of Duty 2 in windowed mode for vista 32 premium home edition? I can play in full screen, but I would rather play in windowed mode. I tried using the following: 1.) -w option under target under "properties" didn't work 2.) -window didn't work 3.) -fullscreen 0 didn't work 4.) Alt + Enter didn't do anything... I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with an Intel X3100 video card... 15.4" screen... I updated the IGP video drivers to the latest intel drivers. The game works in fullscreen, but not windowed mode. I dont' know what else to do to make it work in windowed mode... If anyone has any ideas feel free to post a reply here. Many thanks! ran an app using createprocess and with the parameter "-window" but for some reason its still fullscreen, if i edit the shortcut and place a -window there it works so ... CreateProcess(_T("processname"), _T("-window"), ...); use Sysinternals Process Explorer to verify the game is run with that switch. EDIT:process explorer shows i had the "-window" parameters.... so i cant see where went wrong Do you mean you've checked the result of your CreateProcess or the original program starting in Windowed mode. Also, the parameter "-window" is application specific. The program needs to support that feature for it to work. Sounds to me like game does not have that switch/parameter. _dg is along the right lines. Try this thou. CODE CreateProcess("\"c:\path has spaces\process.exe\"", "\"c:\path has spaces\process.exe\" -window"), NULL, NULL, FALSE, DETACHED_PROCESS, NULL, NULL, &si, &pi); * Right click the game shortcut (on the desktop, the quick launch bar or in the start menu) * Go to the "Shortcut" tab * In the "Target" area, add the following: "-small_screen -windowed" without the quotes * If you have installed the game to a location with spaces in the path there will be quotes around the game executable, for example: "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive Ltd\Football Manager 2005\fm2005.exe" - add the above arguments outside and after the quotes. i used dxwin program and d3dwin and auto sizer but nothing help An example is Maplestory. A little file can make the game go into windowed mode; however, a week later, those who used that file are now banned because the Anti-hack program embedded into the game thinks the file is a hack. Theres a scripting program (auto it) that i used to make Lineage2 run in window, but doesnt work with mir... PS: i know i could do it with Virtual PC but running another WindowsXP inside winXP just to run it in a window doesnt seem logical...) I've looked all over for something called a "framer" which takes a program and puts it into a window but the only thing I could find was this program that was made for FFXI online and ONLY that program. I couldn't do anything to change it. Now there was another program that I found from a german company a long time ago that would let you force programs into windowed mods but I remember it didn't work on practically anything. One final solution: I wanted to play Diablo 1 and I have a dual screen setup. Diablo crashes if you run with 2 screens so I tried to find a program that would let it run diablo windowed much like Diablo II is windowed... but nothing worked. I finally found out that Microsoft was giving our their Virtual PC program for free. Now it doesn't work on Vista yet but if you have an extra XP key laying around you can do that... As you can imagine, emulating XP over an already-running XP OS is extremely heavy on the resources. I have 2gb ram, amd3500+ and 7800GToc and it still ran diablo 1 a little clunky. As far as I know there is no desirable answer to the problem :/ Are you programmers listening!? I hope so! I would gladly pay for a program that could force and emulate games into a window! Man that would be so awesome. Yes, the First solution was Virtual PC for me also, but as you said, it needs a LOT of resources, so i went on and looked for another program, and found "VMware workstation" witch is just like Virtual PC, but a whole lot faster (got like almost the duble FPS with it) Im sure u could play Diablo 1 with it without it being slow. Easy, stable, universal, come ON!!!

Yup any game, in a non screen dominating windows, much like dosbox does without emulation of course, just a full screen prevention system is what i am looking for. Great replies o far, plenty to check out but i feel there is more to come. Stable and easy has yet to be realized.

I've waited my entire gaming life for a quality dig your own grave WWI sim. There is simply no finer battle in the history of man than this mud soaked orgasm of death and privation. A huge mapped god view rts would be great. Sort of stronghold type characters meets codename panzers map style would work perfect, thousands of men in hundreds of trenches you can build on your own to defend and advance as either side until the rivers run red. Get to work!
