Back from the dead!

Howdy!

It has been AGES, yes literally AGES since I last logged in here! I missed Gamespot and the Gamespotters ~!

My Gaming life has declined in the last few months due to college work, training and some other daily life events. However, It's summer Vacation now! which means it's TIME FOR SOME GAMING Baby!! ;)

I've been catching up on a lot of awesome games released! It's overwhelming! Recently, I finished All Assassin's Creed games and God Of War 3. Good games they were!

Now I'm playing Uncharted 3, I have no idea why I got this game in the first place. I'm not a huge fan of Drake's Smartass humor or the game's action. but It was quite hot at the time XD

Any recomendations for awesome games released in late 2011 to early 2012? Something like GoW or Shadow of the Collosseus? Or even a kick-ass RPG?

I would be eternally grateful...

Yours!

Transformers

Transformers (2007)

Poster

uhhh....I don't know where to begin...I was pretty enthusiastic for this movie since it was recommended to me by almost everyone I know. set aside the fact that I'm not big on robots or sci-fi but excepetion are sometimes made.

But you know what? silly me...I expected something more "breathtaking". Frankly, The begenning seemed bland and Shaya's role was not stunning at all, just a typical highschool dork, I mean anyone picked up randomly could perform better. Ok, no problem...moving on, he meets the hottie (Megan Fox) stares at her figure and decides to take her home *Typical*. Heck, this part made realize an even bigger issue which is, why are *most* American movies' love stories seem so shallow...?
I mean that the dude didn't give a rat's ass about her personality, what she likes or hates, or whether they have something in common. It's all about the looks, women are more than that, they are not just pretty hollow figurines, they are humans with ideas, ideals and beliefs.

Ok ok...ignoring that, I was amazed by the sheer power of graphics! truly the wight of this movie lies in its magnificent special effects. They were abselutely flawless and jawdropping, Bravo! ;)

Story-wise,The boredom continues until I am heavily SHOCKED by the way Qatar was portrayed. FOR GOD's SAKE! Qatar is one of the fastest-growing countries in the world. In addition it is rich with oil. they have buildings, cars, electricity!!! where the hell did they get these crappy houses and awful people from??? It surprises me how *many* American movies show the insignificance and utter faliure of any other entitiy than the US...that is just foolish and ignorant, didn't they try to get info about Qatar, DAMMNIT USE GOOGLE!!!:?

Actually, This led me to a conclusion which is that maybe the director intended to reflect a wrong, distorted and outdated image of Arab world/Qatar. which makes more sense to me in a way.

Last but not least, the un-interesting movie reaches it's climax and announces the end of two and smth hours of total boredom.

I'm totally not looking forward for the second one...

I hope I'm not misunderstood for saying such things about American movies, because I'm talking about American Movies, not American people...

Afterall, it's just my personal opinion.

Thnx 4 reading :D

Samurai 7

Samurai 7

Samurai 7

SPOILER WARNING!
If you haven't seen the anime, please refrain from reading this review.

This anime is based on the legendary Seven Samurai, a novel by Akira Kurosawa back in 1954.

Plot:

Kanna village is fed up of the nobuseri "Bandits" who steal their rice crops whenever it's harvest time so they decide to hire Samurai to free themselves of this never-ending torment. A young priestess named Kirara with her younger sister Komachi along with another farmer named Rikichi embark on a quest to collect 7 hungry samurai.

The setting for this anime is unusual; it has an uncommon blend between the feudal Japan era and a distant future where huge cities operate on machinery and Samurai are respected and feared while peasants suffer. Though I'm not a big fan of mecha or sci-fi anime I found the plot a bit intriguing. The animation quality was flawless, so were the special 3D effects used in explosions and robots. Worth the high budget that was paid on each episode. This anime featured many scenes we don't "usually" see like samurai cutting up mechanical enemies with a katana which reminded me slightly of the remarkable Metal gear 4's action moments. The OST was stimulating as well, the OP and ED tracks were very fitting for the anime.

The 7's personas were quite unique, each of them portrayed a different samurai with different dreams however, similar ideals. Kambei, an experienced samurai who fought many losing battles and survived, Katsunoji, an immature young man who likes Kirara and idolizes Kambei as he calls him "sensei/master" since their first meeting, Gorobei, a weird street performer and a lethal samurai, Kikunoji, a mechanical samurai who relies on brute force and the "comic relief" of the series (and is my fav personally), Heihachi, The geeky-samurai and technician of the team, shichiroji, Kambei's partner in previous battles and an experienced spear wielder and Kyuzou, the silent but deadly loyal samurai.

The main character was quite "typical", alas. The cool man haunted by his past and praised by everyone. I just never enjoyed how main characters are overly "emphasized" in animes/movies. I know the story is supposed to revolve around Kambei but I though the other 6 characters also deserved to be shown in a proper way too. The deaths of Gorobei,Heihachi,Kikunoji and Kyuzou could have been made more emotional and moving instead of just occurring blandly. So was the character of Kirara, sometimes I just got the feeling that she's just "there" and that's it. No interaction, no reaction…just nothing.

The romance in this anime was not to my liking either, beginning with an immature love story between Katsunoji and Kirara and ending with Kirara's unexpected affection towards Kambei. Not to mention the shallow love story between Shichiroji and a geisha girl.

Overall, I think Samurai 7 was not a bad anime but probably not the best I saw. If you're fond of the setting of ancient Japan with some mecha and have some spare time I think you might enjoy watching it!
