Oh, Hell No.

I think I'm going to have to write a Deus Ex fanfic. This goes against almost all of my morals concerning this sort of thing, and I probably need to be slapped for it. To make matters worse, there's almost certainly going to be a blatant self insertion and wish fulfilment aspect to it as well, as well as using a canon character (Jensen), although hopefully I can stear well away from Mary Sue and her ilk. Hopefully.

Stuff I Want In Games #1

Another 'I Want' occured to me today, regarding gameplay immersion etc. Another one for first person shooter games. Basically, when you die, the game continues on. You can press 'start' (or whatever) to bring up the dialogue box allowing you to auto-load, load manually or quit. After you die, the camera zooms out from your corpse, and you can turn it around a bit. Despite you dying, the NPCs around you continue to fight. If you're close to enemies / solo on a mission or something (or non squad FPS games like Fallout, Deus Ex, Crysis 2 etc), if an enemy sees your body they'll come up to you and deliver a finishing shot. Or maybe kick your body a bit, check for a pulse, then loudly declare you dead. Perhaps some NPCs might drag your corpse into a corner or closet to get it out of the way. If you're in some sort of squad based game (but not necessarily in control of the squad) like Call of Duty, Battlefield or something like that, your allies will continue to fight even though you're down. If they see you go down, they might yell something about it. "Jimbob's down," followed by, "Someone check him" or something. If there's a safe gap in the fight, someone might come over to your corpse to check you over - check for pulse, or - if killed by a headshot or something really obvious - just glance and leave you. "He's dead," or "Headshot". By defalt, after the interractions with your corpse have finished, the screen fades to black and gives you the respawn / quit dialogue box alone on the screen.

Deus Ex

Today, I intend to drive to the local 24 hour Tesco and buy Deus Ex. Along with some vaguely nommy microwave ready meal. I shall then spend the evening in front of my computer, shamelessly thinking overly fangirl-y thoughts over Mr. Gruff and his trenchcoat.

Go Go Level Up

How the hell do I level up on Gamespot anyway? Is it by adding games I own, or logging in a set amount of times? Maybe blog posts contribute. I don't know - I'll throw up a few posts today and see if it does anything. It probably won't. Maybe I'll even introduce myself. Although, given the nail varnish post, I think most people can guess I'm female, but not overly feminine. Or a metrosexual dude.

Nail Varnish

I just varnished my nails for the first time in 3+ years, while bored on the train on the way to uni. Feels like a really weird texture, like they're always wet and slightly sticky. I know it's just because the varnish has made them smooth, but still. Weird. And a weird first blog post too. Go go me.
