My new avatar!

I love the new look of my avatar! I spent total of 800 ms points for the outfit, hat, and the lightsaber (because i was unable to find a sword :P ). This probably would be my last avatar purchase so I can save my points for some arcade games. The photo above is screen captured on xbox.com and photoshop it.

Legit ways to get MS points

The following sites are sponsored by Microsoft, so I'm pretty sure they're legit, unless they have some lame excuses to refuse your redemption. And yeah, it takes 1 month to receive your rewards :D

---

First one is Bing Rewards

http://www.bing.com/rewards

This is search and earn points thing, pretty easy and doesn't take all day to do. You get 250 points at sign up and installed toolbar, then get points by searching using Bing toolbar. Plus there are 2 daily offers worth 12 points each you can do. There are variety of rewards you can get there, but the easiest and worthwhile is 400 MS points for 400 of bing search points. Not hard at all to get it.

---

Then there's the new Xbox Rewards

http://rewards.xbox.com/

You can earn MS points by answering monthly survey (20 MS points each), purchase contents on marketplace, renew gold subscriptions, etc.

---

And here's an extra one

http://clubbing.com

Not easy, but worth a try. Play puzzle and board games to earn points for rewards. There are variety of rewards you can choose from. There are cheats and automated program online, but i advice not to use those or they'll ban your account.

Rating system really accurate?

I always look at the rating of a movie or game before I buy it, but does it really measure the quality of the product? Most rating are biased, depend on the taste of different people, influence by others, rating may not fully describe the quality of a product. If a game/movie has really low rating or really high rating, it probably bad or good. How about rating that's in between, does that mean the game/movie is "so so"? Rating takes average of all votes. That sounds fair enough, but is it really fair? Let's take Split Second and Blur as an example. Both are racing game, but yield different feel. Of course the fans would rate theirs high. Here comes the problem. Some people are just miserable. Okay, so let's assume your favorite game is Blur, but you hear a lot of people praising Split Second. Even though you have not played Split Second, but you rated it low anyway. Same way around. 1 or 2 votes may not affect the overall score, but how able a group of haters. As for me, I do look for the rating before I buy a game or watch a movie, but not fully dependent on it. I would search for trailers and reviews before making and decision. And of course I have to played or watched it before I can judge it. To me, I feel that rating system just give you a sense of what to expect, but not exactly "measure" the quality of the media. If I see rating below 3, I would skip it, if rating is above 8, it must worth a try. Any rating in between, search for more info.
