Other stuff and randomness...

Points and Level Update: As of Sunday, August 14th, 2005 at 6:30pm Level 13 (59%) no change, but it's the weekend Accepted: 1090 Denied: 86 Pending: 158 Total: 1334 Stuff: Click and scroll down for a list of Some of the Completely or Almost Empty Episode Guides for The West Wing. Think easier point opportunities. Done with basic overhaul for The West Wing and Weeds conrtibution guides. They both are color themed to go with their appropriate shows. (Kinda pretty! :)) Although if you think about it the color scheme of this website is perfect for The West Wing already. Now I just have to fix the references in the Weeds guide so that they are more catered toward the show. Upcoming Projects: Writing reviews for some of The West Wing episodes. Adding in Nielson ratings for both guides. Thoughts: I think that I am gonna uphold a policy not to do show reviews for the basic fact of not wanting contributors for that show to just try to get on my good side based on what they read in some 200 word entry. Plus I can tell that the shows I edit will be everchanging (at least over the next season) and I kinda feel that show reviews should be done when a show ends so that you can review it in total. I wish that TV.com had diambiguation pages the way that Wikipedia does. It would make finding things so much easier. I already mentioned this in RoxieVelma's thread but I feel kinda let down knowing that I'll never receive any real credit for coining the term MIA Editor. It'd be easier if the hadn't closed the bored where I had initially created it but alas, all I can do is post excerpts. Maybe if you get here soon enough you'll be able to view the other thread... A lot of people have been complaining that their submissions have not been processed and I'm just wondering how many of these submissions are to show with editors. I'm asking because this is a separate problem from the staff backlog. Many people are complaining that they didn't get to retain editorship of their shows and a lot of editors who did are starting to make those who didn't look bad. If I've submitted something to a show or person without an editor I don't expect anyone to review any time in the next 3 weeks. But I've submitted tons of info to shows with editors to no avail. There are a lot of editors who are not doing their jobs. I was just wondering about the other people who have filled complaints in topics like "Accepted/Denied/Ignored." Are you waiting for the staff or are you waiting for an Editor whose gone MIA? I would like to gratefully say that this has not been my experience with all the shows/people I submit to. With DennisKytassari and GeorgeFergus I haven't had to wait more than 3 days to get my submissions processed. 2. 7/19/2005 1:26am FandeRocko yeah, they should have a regulation system for editors, like if they don't process any of stuff for the show after a certain amount of time, they lose their job. 8. 7/19/2005 2:47am Yakira How would you suggest notifying some of the people whose profiles show no signs of activity over the past 3 weeks? Has anyone had any submissions approved for any of these show? I was just wondering because they all belong to the same editor and I've contributed to several of them and if they just haven't gotten around to me then that's one thing. But if they've abandoned the site then 100+ shows have a problem... If they aren't going to let editor under level 5 see their queues why give them the title? Everyone will have to wait until the editor gets up to level 5 and in the meantime the guide will never be improved. 14. 7/19/2005 10:05am Yakira Although I am not an editor myself I have come to realize that many editors do not know that they are editors. But what do you do when someone has attained editorship of a guide, appointed no trusted users, and decided not to ever again come back to site? Will tv.com create a solution for this? I'm sure that if they did the backlog would die down in yet another way along with all the other suggestions that have been made in other threads and the actions the staff has already taken. 15. 7/19/2005 10:05am FuManchu-tvt TV.com is set up specifically around absent or “do nothing” Editors. As I said above, submittals go to the Mods first. The information they approve goes DIRECTLY to the guides. For Editors above level 4 who are absent or “do nothing” Editors (I doubt they exist), I assume the submittals fall to the Mods after a short period in the Editor’s queue. Again, the submittals approved by the Mods would go STRAIGHT to the guides. Shows with absent or “do nothing” Editors would just lack someone to correct spelling errors and the deletion of incorrectly approved submittals (don’t even get me started on this one). Is this not clear? Maybe I am missing something.
