Using a GBA/SP to play a game on the GB player seems redundant to me. If I'm going to do that, I might as well just use the actual GBA.codezer0

I prefer using my 42" LCD to play the games, but the original GBA for the controller due to it's layout. This lets me play at night without staring at a small screen, too.

I can't get to my copy right now, but I THINK it means that it has slots for mods. Might be something to check, at least.

Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC) and Pokemon Emerald (GBA). Pokemon Pinball (GBC) and Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire (GBA) are nice, too.

Not really GBC but it's for the GB, and that's the Final Fantasy Legend series (aka theSaGa series in Japan). I really liked that series. Not ultra deep, but it's a decent play for Game Boy RPGs. They're turn-based, and you... sorta...make your own character. You choose a species and use it as your character, anyway.

Also, there's is the Pokemon series, but the GB and GBC games tend to have issues with the save battery dying. If you pick it up, make sure the save battery is new, or that you can change it yourself. Still, if you can get them, the first two generations of games were really good.

I loved Secret of Evermore. It, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, and Super Mario RPG are my favorite SNES games. I mostly liked how different it was. I mean, I can't compare it to Secret of Mana. Sure it's Seiken Densetsu, but they've got two distinct feelings to them. Secret of Mana is meant to be a long, epic RPG, while Evermore is meant to be the B-side movie playing along side it, with it's own quirky story and gameplay.

I need to hook up my SNES and play it again. It's been WAY too long.

I live in Fort Smith, AR, and we have 3 stores to get classic games, plus 2 more in the surrounding area, so we have a decent chance to get old-school games.

Have you taken a look at Lost Kingdoms?

Backlash24

Looks interesting. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. Thanks!

This might seem obvious but if you haven't already, certainly try Baten Kaitos Origins. I think I liked it more than the original.

_BlueDuck_

Already have it. Just waiting till after I finish Baten Kaitos 1 to start on it.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories sounds perfect for you. Had a great story and you've got Reverse Rebirth, so totally win-win.

thattotally

I do need to look for that one. I'd grab Re:Chain, but I love the GBA more than the PS2.

Are there any other good RPGs that use a card-based battle system like Baten Kaitos? I'm mostly looking for Game Boy Advance and Gamecube games (and I can play imports on my GC), but I'm willing to look for them on other legacy systems as well. I love this style of combat.

I don't think those come even close and I just bought it, amongst others :D.

And congrats on Baiten Kaitos. I would pick that one as one of the top Gamecube graphics.Daavpuke

Well, I'm just a sucker for bright graphics, I guess. Yeah, I agree with the Baten Kaitos comment, too. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, and I think it's probably the most beautiful game on the system. It has an extreme level of detail, even without HD.
