Reading my original post again, I completely agree with you. Never once did I question the actual quality differences between old gen and new gen apple products (whether the differences between ps3 and ps4 are substantial is subjective and a different topic of discussion). Sticking with my original topic on how apple and SONY does the release, my point illustrated that Apple at least shows you what they are planning on releasing instead of having a massive hype party on TV. I respect your decision to hold on to all of your hold gaming consoles to play older games you like. But when your trying to check email during the day or check your facebook do you wait until you get home to your computer still? How about music, do you still use your iPod or CD Player to plug in to get music on the go? I dont. I like to have everything in one device (Smartphone) because I like to be as simple as I possibly can with how many things I carry around throughout my daily life. I feel the same way about consoles. If this is supposed to be so "revolutionary" that they have a huge media party all in the PS4's honor that they don't even bother to release any details on what the device can do or even bother to show what it looks like? I understand its a business but for that kind of suspense I would want this thing to clean my house, let alone ask for BC. Plus from a financial stand point, with how many different consoles that are out it really doesn't make sense either. If your buying all these new systems when they come out.. PS1 & 2 will cost you at its prime maybe $200 each if I remember correctly. PS3 was around $300-350 depending on how much capacity... and now the PS4 is expected to be around the same if not more. Adding up the costs of all the consoles with no games puts you at around a $1,000. Frankly, I don't think most americans can just toss that kinda money around for something they might use in the situation of a PS2 every once in a while and would just trade it in and get credit towards the newer model. Just in my opinion, I believe these gaming companies are becoming too big business sided and not enough focus towards what makes most sense for consumers. I also believe that american consumers will go out and blindly purchase anyways even if they are not in a position to do so which will make the gaming companies look like geniuses.
A little bit away from this article... Why in the world would I want to play "The Witness"!?!? It's a launch game for the PS4, that has PS2 graphics and a minecraft/portal theme. So lame.
I am so glad as a gamer I didn't waste my time watching this whole release. Watching a whole bunch of CEO's from a plethora of gaming companies talk about how great the PS4 is going to be while releasing either really vague information about the PS4 or what it's not going to do... So giving this release here's what they are expecting consumers to do...
No 3D support for PS4: Check!
Free Online Gaming: Check?
No backwards compatibility: You can take that "Check" to the bank!
PS4 Region Locked: I know the answer but I am not going to tell you... Check!
Possibility of PS3 Games coming to PS4: Hey not a bad idea, but not anytime soon... Check!
Okay sounds like everything I need! Where can I pre-order?!?!
I hate to sound so negative as I am addicted to PS3 and I think it's a wonderful gaming console, and I do understand they are trying to run a business. But I feel bad for anyone who wasted their time watching this. Even when apple releases a new product your not left with more questions than answers on what your assumed to buy. SONY is going to lose favor as consumers eventually become more educated.
