So, I've been having problems with the resolution on my PS3. I have a 1080p HDTV, and when I try to play 1080p games like GTAIV or CoD4, the game runs at 720p. I can get the game to run at 1080p if I deselect 720p and 1080i in Display Settings, but then I have to switch it back every time I want to play an older game that only runs at 720p. Its kind of annoying to have to change the display settings depending on what game I'm playing.

So, why does the PS3 decide to run 1080p games at the lowest HD resolution instead of the highest?

We won't be seeing Left 4 Dead on the PS3, will we?

Not even an EA port?

If I made amazing levels, and I'm given the ability to charge for them, I wouldn't.

[QUOTE="YellowyEyes"]

[QUOTE="neovalkyr"]Ok im assuming you have a widescreen TV. There are two different aspect ratios for movies. 2.4 and 1.85. 2.4 is even wider than your widescreen TV therefore you will get blackbars on the top and bottom. 1.85 is the exact same size as your widescreen TV therefore you will see movies in "fullscreen". just look on the back of the box if it bothers you that much, and dont watch movies with a 2.4 aspect ratio.neovalkyr

Don't widescreen TVs have a 16:9 aspect ratio (which would be 1.77, not 1.85)?

Tell that to the movie studios, im just giving you numbers that are writen on the back of the box.

Yeah, looking at the back of my Blu-Rays, I see what you mean.

I don't think I've seen a movie that's exactly 16:9. Full Metal Jacket and I am Legend both say 16:9 on the back, but one of them is 1.85:1 and the other is 2.4:1. I'm not sure why they lie to people. :/

Yeah, I like widescreen, but I think all movies should be 16:9. It seems like a lot of them are even wider than that.
