Do first-person shooter's make you nauseous?

With the latest consoles (PS3 and xbox360 in particular) First-person shooters seem to be the preferred genre of game, and why not, there tons of fun to play, they have some state of the arc multiplayer features and there's nothing better then tearing monsters and zombies to shreds with machine guns and missile launchers...or in L4d2's case a hammer will suffice. Unfortunately for many and myself included they have one major flaw, motion sickness. At first everything seems fine, running around massacring hundreds is a treat, it's not until about 45 minutes to an hour in that you start feeling a bit woozy, and as you try tocontinue it goes further down hill to extreme dizziness, until it gets to a point whereyou feelyou need to go lie down or even throw up. After much research I came to discover that it's a symptom called 'simulator sickness'; Like motion sickness brought on by planes and boats, simulator sickness seems to occur when there is a disagreement in the brain between what you're seeing and what your inner ear reports is actually happening. Now how to fix it?

A couple of remedies have been suggested to me, but only a few I've actually tried out for myself, But even after experimenting I still can't say for sure wether or not they work...none the less I'm going to tell you a few things you can try any way in the hope that they may work for you.

*Try sitting further away from the screen so that it doesn't fill your field of vision

*Pills, there are some over the counter medication that are supposed to help suppress these symptoms, but if your anything like me you may not be one for solving your problems with a pill and it's hardly a long term solution

*An ear plug in your left ear (only) is supposed to level out the water in your head, this one surprisingly helped

*Experience, I've been told the best thing to do for the long run is simply to play through it, like motion sickness sometimes it just takes getting used to (though sitting through nausea is no easy task).

*playing on a full stomach, this one I intend to test out for myself either today or tomorrow.

Well that about does it, I hope one of these tips helps someone out there conquer this inconvenient sickness, if anyone has any other idea's or suggestions of how to solve this problem they would be more then welcome to post it in comments, I'd also love to hear from other people that are dealing with this same problem and how they cope with it or just others take on it.

Pokemon HeatGold/SoulSilver

Well it's back! and looking better then ever, I admittedly went off the pokemon franchise for a good few years, it wasn't until I caught a glimpse at the new up and coming Heartgold and Soulsilver that I picked up my old firered version and was once again sent back and reminded of why I used to so love this series to begin with!

In fact even my girlfriend who has never really had any previous interest in the pokemon series is anticipating this new release, we're both looking forward to getting one of each before trading and battling away, cause ya' know I gotta get my Gengar!

Unfortunately for myself I'm only really familiar with the first 250 pokemon, which im hoping isn't going to make choosing my final six a pain. All in all it's true what they say...

The truly great franchises never die.
