because it's mostly people who play games all day, hardly go out, hardly have any friends, complete lack of social skills, etc. That's what 'hardcore gamer' sounds like to me, and I know a few people like that.
Ah thats where we differ, I actually have great social skills, a girlfriend (who by the way watches alongside me ^_^) and great friends.
Someone who plays are large variety of genres and not just flagship titles
well...with that logic..I guess only a minority of people on SW are hardcore gamers,because it seems to me like mostly everyone here likes to blindly follow whatever's the most popular/best selling/highest rated games.
that is true Yea kinda bugs me when I mention a game like Maximo and I get people asking what game is that
A hardcore gamer in my opinion is someone who Plays a wide variety of games, stays plugged into whats going on in the industry, what new releases are coming out, game delays and etc. Also more then likely they are a bit of a collecter, always on the look out for rare games. To put it simply somone that makes the gaming culture an active part of their life. just like any other culture such as sports or music, A hardcore gamer is someone with an extensive knowledge of the subject. There are however people above the hardcore gamer which I align myself with, I refer to them as game junkies.
You know the people I'm talking about, the pretentious ones that make a point to go on and on about their achievements or trophies. Always feel like they know everything there is to know about games and must gush on and on about how their gaming rig and collection is vastly superior to yours. Yep Junkies/fanatics call em what you will but they are out there.
Isn't it funny that now the 360 fanboys are the ones screaming "Just wait" Wait for alan wake, wait for Halo reach.... Didn't that use to be the ps3 fanboys mantra of choice not to long ago. I think we have indeed entered the twilight zone my friends.
