bluray can be locked on a SW level so you can play BD-games but cant watch BD-videos , but that would be just stupid making the whole pricedrop uselessAmnesiaHaze

Not as stupid as your comment though. If the PS3 was offered without a BD player, how would it read BD discs? It wouldn't, so it doesn't matter if you can lock out videos from games. It's not the software genius, it's the hardware.

This thread is useless. PS3 simply cannot be offered without a BD player. Not at this point in its life. Too many BD games in its library to switch media technology nowand too much invested in BD itself. The PS3 was a main pusher of blu-ray in its win over hd-dvd. It will always have a BD player. The drive to win over hd-dvd is over. Now comes the drive to take over dvd as the main media of choice. The need for PS3's BD player is now greater than ever.

[QUOTE="wooooode"]As soon as you opened it you should have exchanged it for a new one and not wait 2 months.thenordichammer

Tried to the store wouldn't take it back.

And you waited 2 months to call Sony?? Next time, super glue whatever's peeling off and be done with it. Does the store have a refund/return policy??? If no, then you shouldn't have bought it there. All due respect, this thing ain't cheap, don't buy it at a cheap store. Call Sony back and ask for a manager, demand one if you have to, just be patient, don't snap, and explain everything to him. I hopw it works out for you.

Do you have any pics for us? Can you take some??

U mofos need to stop crying.

Sony has been great with constant updates to the PS3 OS. Just look at how far it's come since launch day and how much more we can do now vs then. Stop crying like a bunch of little babies and pull up your skirts. Play on.

Right now it's only in Europe, but there's speculation that once tv in the U.S. goes digital in February 2009 this will come over here.

I'm getting it for sure. I enjoyed the demo, played it 3 times already, and I'm looking forward to the full game. I don't play many sims at all, so was surprised at how much fun and addicting the demo was. The only thing I don't like is that I have to wait until the 1st or 8th, whichever it is, to buy it:)

They put it in their incase a game might need more space and won't have to cut things out in order to make it fit. You don't think in 09 10 or 11 that some games might want to go bigger. As far as "good games" go. You must have very limited scope in games to say that MGS 4 is the only good game on ps3. I don't see why people buy systems and then complain, it is really ridiculous. Why do people that like their ps3 and so on have to put up with you people that don't X about a system. Ratchet, Uncharted, Hotshots, Motorstorm, Resistance 1, Warhawk, and UT3 were all stellarr games for first year games. You can say whatever want which I am sure will be negative, but the 360 it's first year did not have that kind of quality. A lot of it's games on year 1 looked kind of like high res XBOX 1 games. Oblivion and Gears were pretty much the only 2 games that actually showed off the hardware of the 360. Granted yes the whole Blu Ray thing takes a while to do, but if done right the results are rather amazing.

games like White Knight Story and FF 13 seem very awsome. You are just another one of those instant gratifying people and don't look beyond what is currently out.

CoreoVII

True, I felt uncharted and heavenly sword where great "Starters". This thread also has nothing to do with wii or 360, I am merely defending myself against the ignorant.

And yet you ask an ignorant question. It's called evolution. It may not use it today, but it needs it tomorrow.

After all, Im purchasing a 500 dollar console for GAMING, not HIGH DEF. MOVIES.

Wait.

I just spent 500 buck'z.......It'z all making sense now....:|

CoreoVII

That's about as stupid as asking "does the PS2 really need DVDs?".

Hey - why don't we all go back to 16 bit cartridges?

[QUOTE="SPD_WeBmAsTaH"]LOL. What the hell are you yapping about? GTAIV on PS3 has full 1080p and it looks absolutely amazing on my tv.donwon06

sorry to burst your bubble, but it's native resolution is 630p. it's just getting upscaled to 1080p.

I don't even know why people make a big deal about GTA IV's resolution. The graphics in that game suck anyway, and a higher res will only make it look worse. The appeal is the gameplay, not the graphics.

Well you stated before that you are running a 32" Samsung set that goes up to 1080i, which in reality means the native resolution is 1366x768, so you are not watching it in 1080p. But whatever.

Large_Soda

Wouldn't a 1366x768 give you 720p resolution? For 1080i, his tv probably outputs a 1024x1080 signal (I think that's how mine does it).

768p technically, but for most scenarios (say setting the PS3 resolution) you would just choose 720p. All the 1080i means is that it will accept an input of 1080i. 1024x1080 is not a real resolution, perhaps you have a plasma that is 1024x768 or something, but have the first number sequence larger than the second would result in a taller screen, kind of like a widescreen TV turned clockwise.

I also just realized that you guessed his resolution. Since he confirmed 1080i and maybe even 1080p, assuming he is right (more believable than you since it's his tv), it's pretty obvious his resolution is higher than 1366x768. Like I said above, there are many resolutions out there, both native and scalable. Whichever his happens to be, it's good enough for the HD norms of 720p and 1080i/p.
