This argument about "core" games and gamers is getting ridiculous. If games like Super Mario Galaxy are not for the knowledgeable gamer or "hardcore" enough then by golly I don't want to be a hardcore gamer. All these elitist attitudes are bordering on the embarrassing to be honest.

Who actually wants to be considered a hardcore gamer after one grows up and branches out into the real world anyways? Who can balance a strong and healthy family and social life AND spend 18 hours a day "owning" other players and petting their gamer egos and still have time to not be a loser in the real world? If that's what being a "leet" gamer means then please count me out.

I love my games and enjoy them but when the situation denigrates to the point where I start to look down my nose at other gamers for balancing out their lives like normal people do then I think it would be time to hang it up because that's pretty sad.

I think the problem is that too many developers are trying to swing for the homerun and they strike themselves out. They need to be able to hit singles, doubles, and triples with their games in order to build a strong library of games. This is what has gotten many of them in trouble by focusing all their big hits on the HD consoles and many of them are reporting record losses and some devs are closing their doors. The Wii gives the developers an advantage by allowing them to have these smaller hits to help them out.

Also, I really don't like their argument that only Nintendo games sell. This isn't even the same audience from last gen unless they really believe that the GC sold the most consoles. Rather, the reason why Nintendo is rewarded is because they put more effort into their games and they are rethinking the way games work by introducing new genres. Everyone else is just following, much like the Birdman Fallacy theorizes. If devs put their best games on the Wii, they will sell too. No one can argue that games like GTAIV, MGS4, and RE5 would not have sold on the Wii if the game was on there. Put your best efforts on the console and the game will sell. There really has not been any AAA worthy effort from any 3rd party developer for the Wii.

Little King's Story begins with the story of a young boy named Corobo. Shy and without many friends, Corobo stumbles upon a mysterious and powerful crown whilst walking in the forest near his village. He soon discovers that the crown grants him the ability to charm any person and make them follow his orders. Suddenly, Howzer, the bull-knight appears informing Corobo that he is now King of the village and that he must not take this responsibility lightly. Returning to his sleepy village as a King instead of a shy little boy, Corobo begins a quest to turn his small hamlet into a noble, fantastic kingdom.

Little King's Story is the result of the combined heavyweight development team from some of Japan's most successful titles and features key contributors from the Harvest Moon series, Final Fantasy XII, DragonQuest VIII, Mario & Luigi RPG, Kingdom Hearts and Chulip.

Hey, don't mess with the pig. You saw how it took control of the game at the end and was kicking butt? Sure showed that cat! :)

[QUOTE="scottiescott238"]

only 7 people voted for halo 3 ?? i dont think many neo gaf forum goers have a 360

InsaneBasura

That obviously must be the case...

Yeah, insane how they have almost 93,000 posts in that thread about Halo 3. That matches the total of many forums out there. It's funny to see claims of people not having 360s on NeoGaf.

CBF reading the interview, its too long :P I'll just take everyones word for it that it sounds awesome, can't wait for it too be released and reviewed, might have to pick this up, Wii needs more good 3rd party support so I'll have to do my part.

St_muscat
You should definitely give it a read. It's a pretty interesting interview and ambitious by the devs. I hope it works out though.
