This is what Mark Rein posted on Epics forums:

"As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. But our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once it's ready and is the best game we can deliver. The PC version is still on track for a November release."

It seems it's not set in stone one way or another. It's just a question of preparing Midways shareholders for the worst case scenario.

And he added:

"Yes, there is a chance it will come out in December.

In addition there is some good news as well. A little extra time in development means that now the PS3 version will have all of the same maps as the PC version which wasn't previously expected to be the case." Emphasis not mine.

According to this, it is now fact that it will have all the PC versions maps. As far as I'm concerned, that's great.

EDIT: It appears the thread was deleted. Weird.

The people at Sony (from their blog) said that LA.Noire wasn't the game.

Everyone is going nuts over GTA IV's delay.

While reading the press release, I noticed something.

Near the end, there is a section called product pipeline.

It states that LA Noir is PS3 only.

Could this be the exclusive franchise Sony was talking about? Or do you guys think it could be something else?

In July which is why it puzzles me why this guy seems to think it sold over a million when we have no sales data on it other than Japan, where it doesnt seem to be doing very well :(

jedigemini

Maybe he was thinking about this piece of news.

http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-50130.aspx

If it's true, over 400 thousand NGS units sold in half a month where the install base was slightly less than a million consoles, I'd say it's doing well.

This is from two weeks ago.

edit: damn editor keeps eating spaces

Don't know if you guys have seen this, but it's the rest of the demo played at the conference by the project leader while we saw a bunch of gameplay sequences.

This is not the video where they destroy the arc tower or whatever it's called.

Only problem is that the video is low quality and dark.

i don't really see how that was so interesting, he just said the game looked really good and i think everyone can agree that it does.htotheo

For me, aside from the project leader of one of my favorite games saying a competitors game looked good, was the fact that they worked together on a game years before.

But then again, I sometimes find these little bits of info interesting while most people just yawn.

Did a search and didn't find this anywhere.

An interview with Cliffy B. on ars technica.

http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/07/12/cliffy-b-on-killzone-2-dev-im-professor-x-hes-magneto-our-interview

I found this bit cool:

Ben: One last question and then I'll let you go. What did you think of the Killzone 2 footage shown?

Cliffy-B: I thought it looked hot!

Ben: Did you?

Cliffy-B: Yeah, the funny thing about that game is that the lead programmer (Arjan Brussee, from Guerilla Games) and I, actually, that was the programmer I did Jazz JackRabbit with back in the day.

Ben: Really?

Cliffy-B: Yeah, and that's always like, you know at E3 a couple years ago that was being compared to Gears and everything, so everything is kind of full circle. It's like, I'm **** Professor X, and he's Magneto.

Seems like there's some kind of competition going on.

Yes, I do. Very much. Whether a game's single-player is good or not basically determines if I buy it. Multi-player is just an added bonus for me.

[QUOTE="NobuoMusicMaker"]Less work for devs on compression, more time to work on everything else that is important.FatalDomain

You obsolutely have no idea what you are talking about....

For devs to just put content on a disk with proper compression would be the equivalent of someone writing a 300 page thesis without using paragraphs and someone trying the reference a chapter in it...One of the reasons why blu-ray is slow as molasses is because of its initial slow read speed combined with lazy devs scattering content all over the disc instead of compressing it to utilize the faster portion of the disc....

Game On...

Blu-Ray has the same read speed through out the disc on the PS3, unlike DVD.
