Got an Xbox 360!

Finally bought a 360, along with a copy of Dead Rising.

The games addictive as hell, and I'm digging all the live features, demos, and arcade games. Really glad I made the buy.

Need to figure out what I should buy next though, hmm.

What's with old wemon and rugs?

I had to move a desk upstairs today into a new room, but my grandmother has filled our house so full of rugs that it felt like a full days work.

I really loved how I would run into a rug every six f***ing inches and having to stop and reajust the thing as I pass it just to run into another one. It was only slightly more fun than lifting and carrying a 100 pound desk up a flight of stairs alone.

Tremulous

http://tremulous.net/

Tremulous is a team oriented FPS about Marines fighting Aliens, and it's free.

The game is part strategy and part action, the object of the game is to destroy the other team from the map and you win, here's how each side works:

Marines: The marines start as basic soldiers with a few structures(Yes you can build a base). You kill aliens for money and you use that money to buy more advanced weapons, armor, items, or new structures. If you die you can re-spawn at a re-spawn point in your base, if the aliens take out your last re-spawn point you cannot re-spawn, this would be how you lose for example. After your team gets enough kills their tech level is increased and new weapons, items, and structures are unlocked.

Aliens: As an alien you start as a tiny little guy who's only real advantage is speed. You can climb on walls and leap at your enemy marines, kills grant you evolution points that you can use to evolve into a higher form of alien, granting you new abilities and stats. Aliens also have structures as well, they have spawn points and defenses the same as marines that can be built. After your team gets enough kills you'll gain a new tech level as well, unlocking better evolutions and structures. If your spawn points are taken out and no one can re-spawn you lose the same as marines.

That's the basic overview, the game is pretty lively and easy to find a match, the lag isn't bad in the right servers and my only complaint with the game is sometimes the hit boxes don't seem to detect very well, besides that I really enjoyed it. But I will warn the game is hard at first with a fairly steep learning curve.

Got the Wii!

I'm lovin' it.

Ok anyway so I stood outside best buy for a few hours and managed to snag one this morning, was actually pretty fun, there were plenty of systems and no one that showed up at 8 had to worry about not getting one. Hung out with a couple guys I met and chatted about games and such until we got our tickets and system. Snagged three games based roughly off GameRanking reviews- Zelda(Yay!), DBZ: T2, and Rayman: RR.

Took it home and got it hooked up fairly quickly after going through everything in the box- was about the size I expected- placed the sensor bar on top of my TV and turned the system on, going through the settings.

First thing was making some Miis, the creation is simple but effective, and you can make them look pretty much however you want, it's a fun/cool feature that will hopfully have many possiblitys besides Wii Sports.

Popped in Wii sports and went through the the games with my younger sisters. We were standing up and really getting into it, each game had a bit of a learning curve but after we got used to it things were great. I didn't really notice any sensor errors- the only problems with it were from us not being in the sensor area which feels kind of like a triangle moving out thinly from the TV. Wii Sports was a bit of a workout, Baseball was great but for the batter mostly timing- I did the full swing thing and they did the whole real pitch thing and vise versa. If you truly get into the game it's a lot more enjoyable. No reason to feel silly. Bowling was a bit more difficult to get used to but it was OK... I really liked Golf, it was relaxing and worked very smoothly I can see myself going back to this one a lot. Boxing was the most difficult to get the hang of but also the most impressive as far as control goes- dodging blows, swinging blocking, ect. Hilarity ensued after my younger sister pulls a matrix landing back to dodge and then pops forward with a over the head hammer hit- donkey kong style. Tennis was the best mutliplayer one- I could see four people having a lot of fun with this- I know just the 3 of us did, the controls are smooth but again after getting used to them.

Ok so next I pop in DBZ: T2, WwwoowW it was like playing video games for the first time. The learning curve for the controls isn't easy but it was very cool- and the more you get used to it he cooler it becomes. The game itself is pretty fun too I might add, controllers aside. I like the 3rdperson fighting game style. I didn't linger here long since I didn't get to play much, the sisters wanted to see Rayman: RR.

OK well Rayman is the best mini-game oriented game I'v ever played. The games are all very graphically fleshed out, and some of them are pure fun. There are some I didn't like, such as the running game- a bit too exasperating. But there are also a number of good games such as the Plunger rail-gun style game, the controls are responsive and it's just great as far as presentation, the levels themselves are very dynamic as you go through gunning it out with crazy-eyed rabbits. The dancing game was awesome and I couldn't really keep myself from moving with the groove as I flexed the controllers- the better you do the more entertaining the screen becomes, everyone was kind of moving their hips and getting into it. Ha.

Next comes Zelda, *drool*. This game is just, wow. I can't say a bad thing about it- actually I need to go play some more I'v only gotten about an hour in- cya!

Toribash

http://www.toribash.com/

Toribash is a simi-free game where two ball-men step into an arena and neither leave... they do break into diffrent pieces though.

Anyway, the game involves turns, during your turn you click on these balls(joints) to make them contract, relax, hold, or extend. Depending on what you make the joints do the character move in diffrent ways, you can also set his hands to grab. After you select what the joints are to do you end the turn and the character moves a little, you keep this up to battle. The goal is to do as much damage as you can, any way you can.

The freedom you get is unmatched in any fighting games I'v played, I'v even seen someone rip off their own arm, throw it at the enemy... make the arm grab the enemies head, and then beat him with the elbow repeatedly. It's a lot of fun and kind of a toy/fighting game.

If you enjoy the trial version you can buy a key to unlock the full game. The trial version comes with near all the gameplay however, you just can't do some things such as match settings.

Lemming Ball Z

http://www.lbz3d.com/

http://www.lbz3d.com/v2/

Like a lot of people I liked DBZ when it first came out(not so much anymore). But recently I found this little gem of a fighting game.

Ok so it's a fighting game with a DBZ/The Lemmings theme, the fighting system is where the fun is. As you fight you can gain power from charging, your power rating will effect just how powerful you are in many ways.

With a number of special moves, transformations, and attacks that can fill the sky with energy is charged right this is a fast-paced fighting game and also one of the very few DBZ fan inspired games that's any good.

It also has online multiplayer.

9/10 as far as free fighting games go.

Stick-Arena Multiplayer game.

Stick Arena is a multiplayer online flash game that lets you jump into one of many levels and duke it out with other players in a top-down manner using a multitude of weapons, best of all? You're a stick figure- rar.

http://www.xgenstudios.com/stickarena/

Ok so personally I think it feels kind of over-simplified and sometimes you get a lagger that really pisses you off. But the game is actually pretty good and you can gain a lot of personal skill but it's mostly in aim and how well you fall back and attack when the time is right- dodging out in the open is next to impossible due to the easy aiming. I also have to admit it's pretty fun dancing around a guy with a pistol and slashing him with a katana.

The game is good if you're bored and I play it now and again, you can set up private rooms if you want to play with friends or you can join one of the many public games. It also keeps track of your stats so you can gain ranks and badges.

8/10 when weighted with other flash/java type games.

Walkover

I found this the other day and have been playing it- it's really impressive AND FREE.

http://rochel.s83.deinprovider.de/walkover/index.php

It's a Strategy-Action-Game called WALKOVER, the idea behind it is you're part of a futuristic human army battling hordes of aliens(Think StarShip troopers). The graphics are a little dated but they are fair and they work. The basic rundown of the normal game(there are different game modes) is:

You start a server, play alone or with friends(Unfortunately they are not very populated right now). After you pick your map and your settings you are thrown into the game. In the game you control a solider and move him from a top down view, you can aim and shoot with the mouse or command your troops around.

You can build buildings as well, to do this you must press the button to build what you want, Teleporter(Reinforcements) or Missle/Gun Turret(To hold back the swarms of aliens). You'll need to order some men onto the contstruction site for it to build quickly though. You can also pick up a very large number of power ups that give you new weapons for your character or that will make APC vehicles drop reinforcments- or even an air strike. You also gain experience from kills which you can use to level up your character and put stat points into him to make him a more powerful solider on the field.

The way you win the game is to use your troops and friends to push back the aliens and destroy their hives(which spawns them). My only problem with the game is the lack of people playing online, and the poor AI. Besides that it's a fast/fun action/strategy game that will keep you busy for a while. Overall for a free game I'd give it a 9/10.
