I'm back!

Well it's been a while. I've been pretty busy, but I'm finally back.

Since I've been gone, Killzone 2 has released. The game is ok, but not as fun as I thought it would be. I ranked in the top 3% of players in the world a couple times. :D

RE5 is good too, so is Bioshock. I'm almost through with both of those games.

Also, I went to log in a few weeks ago, but I forgot my password AND the email for my account

Luckily today I found the password written down in a notebook next to my computer, so I was able to log back in :D

Anyway, good to be back. :)

I won't be very active here on GameSpot for a while. Let me tell you why.

Well, today, I just found out some great news. I found out that I'm eligible to play baseball for my high school this year. After months of not knowing whether or not I would get to play, my coach called and told me the good news this afternoon. :)

The reason for all of this, is because of my grades from last year. I failed math and chemistry last year in 11th grade, and because of that, it was supposedly going to keep me from playing baseball. :( Lucky for me, I'm friends with the Principal of the school (he used to be my coach in 8th grade), and it was him who convinced the state athletic association to let me play. :D

I haven't called him yet to thank him, but I definitely will soon. Because of him, I'm getting to play what I love (well, besides gaming :P), and that's baseball. This means so much to me, because to be honest, I was going to be really upset about not getting to play baseball in my last 2 years of high school. (In 11th grade, I injured my arm, so even if I would've had passing grades in math and chemistry, I couldn't have played anyway)

So now, what all this means, is that my time here at GameSpot is going to be not much at all. I'll try to visit the site whenever I get a chance, but now with practice everyday, and games starting next week (Monday), I really won't have time to be here much, if at all. I just thought I'd write a "farewell" blog to let everyone know.

Anyway, later. You guys may not see me back here for a while. (At least 2 months possibly)

RE5 demo impressions

I downloaded the demo last night (early this morning actually) 5am lol

Here are my thoughts after several playthroughs:

I love the co-op aspect of it. Always having someone there to back you up is really nice, particularly when you've got a guy with a sack on his head chasing you around with a chainsaw... :? I like the fact that there are several different control configurations you can use, as opposed to RE4, where there was only one  The fact that you can now aim with the right stick instead of the left is nice as well. After playing RE4 and having to use the left stick to aim, I was thinking "I hope RE5 let's you aim with the right stick" Thankfully, we can. :D Overall, the controls seem to be a bit more polished, and a bit easier to work with than in RE4. I'm using the "D" configuration in the demo btw.

As for the gameplay, it's great. I had no issues with framerate, the graphics were very nice, and Sheva is really helpful. Trust me, I can't say it enough, Sheva is a big help.

Now for the Pros and Cons:

Pros - Co-op play both online, and offline, great graphics, controls are great, consistent framerate. Overall a great experience.

Cons - You still can't move AND shoot. :x You can't move once the knife is equipped

Yeah, that's all the cons I could find, and there not even really significant problems. In fact, probably the only reason I'm complaining about this stuff to begin with, is because of being able to move and shoot in pretty much every other game I've played that involves guns...It's not too hard to adjust to not being able to move and shoot, but it certainly felt wierd to me, especially after playing Dead Space so much :P

If I were to rate the game, I'd give RE5 a 9.5/10. Excellent game, so many improvements from RE4, yet it still has that same RE "feel" to it. More refined, multiple control setups, co-op play, I mean, you can't go wrong with this. RE5 is going to be great.

KZ2 demo impressions

After playing the Killzone 2 demo about 20 times last night, I've came to the following conclusions:

The gameplay is excellent. I loved the whole "feel" of everything. The weapons, the enviroments, everything was brilliant. The graphics are amazing. They looked great on my 67" Samsung 1080p HDTV :D The voice acting was ok. Not exactly great, but it wasn't horrible. The controls were very easy to learn, and IMO, the "Standard 1" configuration is the best. While in cover, holding down L2, popping up, then using R3 to aim down the sights works really well. The enemy AI is very intelligent. Taking cover, tossing grenades (very accurately), blind-firing, moving to a different piece of cover if you try to flank them. With AI like this, it makes the game more challenging, which IS a good thing! :D

Overall, after playing the demo many times, I'd have to say that this is just as good, if not better than CoD4. It's definitely going to be the best FPS out for the PS3 :D

Now for a brief list of the pros and cons:

Pros - Great AI, graphics and gameplay. Weapons feel powerful, the default control layout is perfect for the game (IMO, of course :P), Amazing physics, mind-blowing audio

Cons - Game freezes momentarily when loading a new checkpoint (hopefully this will be fixed in the final version), voice acting is sub-par, could've been better, and close combat feels awkward.

Overall, the cons really aren't anything serious, and that's a good thing. Some minor flaws but the good in this game definitely overshadows the few bad things. If I could rate KZ2 now just based off of playing the demo, I'd give it a 9.5/10. The demo was really that good. :D

Now just a few more weeks of waiting until we all get our hands on the full version of the game! >.< I can't wait!!!!

I bought Bioshock the other day....

And I'm thoroughly impressed with it. I picked the game up while it was on sale at Best Buy last week, and am definitely liking it so far. Simply put, the game is great. Stunning visuals, gripping storyline, and intense gameplay...Everything is great.

The gunplay doesn't exactly have that real FPS feel to it like CoD or Resistance, but it's still great. I love the combat elements in the game as well. Shock an enemy, switch to your wrench, then finish your opponent off. Very, very intense and satisfying.

I'm not too far into the game as of now, but I can say that everything I've seen so far has done nothing but impress me. Bioshock is a great game, and I'm anxious to see how it all plays out as I continue to progress through the story.

Anyway, later. 8)

So I got a copy of Killzone that actually works, and I got RE4 too....

Instead of having to send the bad disc back through the mail, GS's return poilcy for online orders says that I can take a game to a a retailer and exchange it. That's exactly what I did. Just got back, and have been playing Killzone for about 45 minutes now, and I must say, while it's not a great game, it's still ok. It's alright so far, but the way I see it, there's so many ways that this game could've been much better....

Oh and while I was at gamestop, I picked up a copy of RE4 for $10. A lot of people compared it to Dead Space (A game which I thoroughly enjoyed), so I thought, what the heck, may as well get it. :D Hopefully it'll be a bit better experience than KZ, because honestly, it's ok, but not that good....:|

PS Here's hoping that KZ2 will be waaaaay better than the original, because KZ is "lacking" in several areas to say the least.....

Anyway, later :)

Well, I got Killzone, and.....

The disc was so scratched up, it wouldn't even work! :x Yup, I just opened it up after getting in from school, excited and ready to play. I popped it into my PS2, but the game wouldn't even start  I took the disc out, looked at it, and saw nothing but scratches on the disc! Here I am ready to play Killzone, and it doesn't even work! Hell, I even paid 10 extra dollars for shipping just to get it here quicker! :x

So anyway, I guess I'll just send it back, and see if I can get a copy that actually works! This is total load of ****!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!! :x :x :x

PS I know for sure it's not my PS2 that's the issue, because I'm playing GTA San Andreas right now on it....

I bought Killzone

I just bought the game off of gamestop.com, and it should be here in a few days. I thought I might as well get it, because I'm interested in the playing through the game and learning about the story, so once I get Killzone 2, I'll have a good idea of what's going on story-wise ;) It was only $15 for a used copy of the game, so I can't complain about the price that's for sure. :D

Anyway I'll let everyone know what I think about the game after I play it a bit. :)

I got a speeding ticket today... =(

I got pulled over on the way home from school today...and you wanna talk about being in shock, I couldn't believe it at first. I was almost to my house, when I look in my rearview mirror and see a cop car pulling out onto the road. I didn't think much of it at first, but then the cop turned the lights on, and I was like "Oh ****!" He came up behind me and I pulled off the road. So he comes up to me and I asked what I did wrong. He said I was speeding, going 64 in a 55mph zone. He got my license then went back to his car where he sat for at least 20 minutes! I don't know what took so long, and when he finally got back, he handed me a ticket. over 100 dollars! :x after i got the ticket, I went home and my dad was wondering why I was about 30 minutes late. I started to lie, but I didn't. I told about the ticket, and to my surprise, he wasn't even that mad, which made things a bit easier for me...Anyway, I had a pretty crazy Friday...I'd type more, but it's nearly 2AM, and I'm really tired. -Later
