War of the Lions First Impressions

Well I've played the game for just over 17 hours so far and I'm really enjoying it. It's nice to experience the original in a more updated, portable version but with the same addictive and amusing gameplay. It's great to have a new FF game to play as well, I find that there is something about that universe that just captivates me (and many others I'm sure). The wealth of job classes and customisation is great, something I really liked about Tactics Advance, and overall the storyline is pretty enthralling so far (especially with the beautiful cut-scenes!). I'd say so far GS's rating is seeming a little low but I'll have to decide when I get further into the game...

Recent Gaming Activities

It's been a busy few weeks this past month, but I've managed to squeeze in some gaming time. Namely, I've finally got round to completing God of War. I've also been playing a bit of Okami, a recent purchase, and rented copies of Rugby 2008 and World of Conflict.

There's also the small timesink that is World of Warcraft, although I think I'm regulating it ok. My guild has just started raiding Karazhan but other than that I'm not on that much.

Last but not least, my copy of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions for PSP has just arrived. I never played the original, which this is an update of, but I was really into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (as well as the FF series in general, of course!) so I'm looking forward to trying this out.

And England are playing in the World Cup tonight so I'll be round the TV with some mates and some beers cheering them on!

I got FFXII...

... and it's so good! It's been everything I could have hoped for so far; the new combat system, the license board etc. all work really well to make the game more flowing than the others. The characters are also great and the story is engaging. Let's just hope it carrys on staying as fun for the rest of the game (as I'm sure it will).

Happy New Year!

Well it looks like Christmas is over for another year, it was nice seeing family and just having the general Christmas spirit.

It was also good as I got my new HD TV, which I also helped put money towards, a nice 32" Samsung :D. Saving up for my 360 now though...

I also got FIFA 07 and Oblivion, both for PC. FIFA is enjoyable as usual, I've played quite a lot of manager mode and online games. Oblivion is truly an awesome game; as good a follow-up to Morrowind as I could have hoped for.

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you have a good one!

Long time, No writing

Well looking at the dates I realise it's been over a year since I last wrote in this blog. However, all has been pretty quiet on the gaming side of my life in the last 12 months. I've been regularly visiting the site and keeping on track of things but a busy summer and new college have pretty much kept me outdoors and not playing for a while (Have been off World of Warcraft for 9 months now :) ).

I did get around to buying an N64 off ebay though for a good price.. along with the reason I bought it: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. I've played this on and off (not very much I have to say) to try and catch up on some gaming history and it hasn't disappointed. Even to this day the game remains fun to play! (It's not quite FFVII but what is ;) ) Anyway, more about that when I get round to completing that and writing the review.

Another retro console that I've purchased recently is an old Dreamcast, along with a copy of Soul Calibur and some random games.. again, trying to play an old classic.

I also bought Tekken: Dark Resurrection for the PSP, which is very entertaining.. the first Tekken I have played since Tekken 3, it brings back the memories. Hwoarang is still my character of choice, but I like the new character Lili.

After Christmas and all the present-buying that goes with it I hope to save up for an Xbox 360. In the future I'd also like to buy a Wii and a PS3, but I'll have to wait and see.

Anyway, I don't know if anybody still reads this but feel free to leave a comment if you do.

Later

Holidays

It's the school holiday for two weeks, so I can have a nice break before I go back to exams.

Got a couple of parties lined up for the hols so I'm looking forward to them.

Not really gaming much at the moment, many real life commitments taking priority, and the fact my PC crashes whenever I play games now (see here.)

Sort of writing a FFX "Perfect Game" FAQ, but only making slow progress, and also working on my own RPG called "Endless Horizon".

Anyway, must be off so cya later.

FFVII Low Level Game

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote in this journal, and also a long time since I played FFVII, and, prompted by reading some story theory on FF Shrine and the upcoming release of an English Advent Children, I have decided to replay the game to refresh my memory. The only difference will be that this time it will be a low level game, with no levelling other than for bosses and enemy skills. I have just beaten Aps after Don Corneo's mansion, so I am looking forward to some nostalgia, and new understanding of various concepts due to the fact I am now older than when I first played it. For example, I only just realised how much of a pimp Don Corneo is (I haven't played it since I was 12 :)) I'll keep writing my progress here.

And, just a note to the couple of people who have left comments on previous posts, sorry I didn't reply to them: I never read them until now, sorry!

Got PSP

Got my PSP the other day for my birthday! This is early for me since I live in the UK... With it I got NFSU: Rivals and Metal Gear Ac!d. I have been playing a lot of NFS as that arrived earlier than MGA. So far I am very impressed with both games, but still getting used to the new concepts in MGA...

Orc, Undead and Tiger Woods...

Well, my orc rogue is up to 23 and still going, despite various attempts by parents to slow him down ;). I'm leaving my other characters for the moment, apart from maybe my 32 undead mage. Nice new weapons for my rogue: Wingblade (www.thottbot.com/?i=2827) with beastslaying and Naraxis' Fang (www.thottbot.com/?i=9423). Ordered Tiger Woods 2005 for PC. Anyway, that's all for now.

WoW

Well, i have had it for just over a week now (World of Warcraft), and I'm not disappointed. Absolutely awesome game. look out for me on the Zenedar server as Stormkite!
