@Jacanuk: To see if they like it before they spend hundreds of dollars on it. Or maybe just looking to play it for a few weeks with no intention of purchasing one. The same reasons people used to rent them.

Does the idea of renting a video game console before buying it appeal to you? Why and why not? And if you currently rent a video game console, what do you like/dislike about it?
