Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Where the first one caught my imagination and reinforced my love for all things medieval, this is installment that I found to be the most fun. The story was up to the usual standard you expect for AC but the sheer size and scope of the game were superb in transporting me to a different, more dangerous time of pirates! I think it was their best game, AC Unity included.

Assassin's Creed Unity

Not as much fun as previous entry; convoluted story that didn't make much sense to me- perhaps I was just too bummed by the fact that it was ALL on foot. No horseback, carriage, boat- nothing. You run and climb (and I'll allow that Arno is more fluid and graceful than Altair or Ezio (or Desmond) and then run and climb some more. Excellent environments, very beautiful; game types present were fun and interesting.

Battlefield Hardline

This was much more fun than I expected; BF4 was all slick and flashy but very little substance- at least for the SP campaign. The SP campaign for this one was quite engaging and interesting (albeit derivative as far as crime dramas go) if only because it was unexpected.

8

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

They needed more Kevin Spacey. The game was awesome for the futuretech, the story was engaging and the voice acting the usual COD setting the bar for all others.

8

Call of Duty: Ghosts

COD4MW will go down as my favorite COD of all time, but this one comes second. First time you get to play as one person for the entire campaign and at a distinct disadvantage; excellent voice acting and story.

Grand Theft Auto V

The greatest iteration yet; even though I had it for the 360, once I got the new One this was one game that I just had to have on it. I played it so thoroughly previously that I'm currently stalled midway through the main campaign but I know I'll get back to it.

Metro Redux

Wanted to love it, tried to love it but too many little things bothered me. Linear games are really so yesterday, you know? And the endings, they were abrupt to say the least. One minute you're running along toward the end and BAM! Its over, no explanation. Almost like the budget ran out before they could fully complete it so just cut the scene.

7

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Got it as a gift, haven't yet played it other than to boot it up to the title screen.

Ryse: Son of Rome

XB One's "shine" as it were, to show off the new system. Lots of gladiatorial fun, although it could get repetitive. Short main campaign- could have been very interesting if they'd fleshed it out quite a lot.

Watch Dogs

Good game, spooky how realistic the denizens of ctOS-enabled Chicago where the concept of society is the koolaid. Aiden lives in the real world behind the facade. Was kind of depressing, really.
