Just had to comment. My first MGS game in the series. I may have to go back and see if I can pick up the earlier games (along with the consoles) and check them out.

As the reviews said, the cutscenes are a bit long, but I think it just adds to the game.

I started it out on the hardest setting because I do consider myself an experienced player. Afterwards I will go back and play on the easier settings. I might ennjoy it a bit more. Never can tell.

But, what I wanted to comment on was, "Liquid."

He seems to have this "Lee VanCleef" thing going on.

For those of you who are now saying, "Huh?"

Go ask your daddy. Or more than likely, your grandfather.

An old, western, cowboy, shoot-em up bad guy.

Good game, so far.

I have one SERIOUS REGRET game. And the nut at Gamestop that recommended it to me is off of my "Talk-To" list. He rated this so high.

It was the most stupendous game of the 21st Century. And on and on. I listened to him. sheesh...

HAZE....

Leave that one alone. Don't even rent it. That game was so bad I couldn't even finish it.

I took a loss on it when GS had a "Trade any two" games in, get ten dollars credit. I was glad to get that one out of my house. Boy, what a stinker that was.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that this edition of Haze was for the PS3... oops. But, no matter which console, it still su*ks, bad...

But, I wanted to hit a "wider" audience.

The latest Hot Spot talked a bit (a very small bit) about Region coding and such. That was aimed right at me because I have found a documentary I have wanted for a long time.

Here is the Hot Spot I was listening to. Around the 16-19 minute mark.

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/features/hotspot/index.php?id=727&tag=nl.e513

Different Regions and formats (NTSC and PAL.)

I need some experts to weigh in on this. See below.

And, thanks for all you can do to help me.

Dale

OK, so let me get this right...

Games ARE Region Free, while Blu-Ray and DVD's, on the PS3 ARE Region encoded. (please note; The original sentence started out "Games ARE NOT Region Free... I just now saw the error and changed it to what you see now and also edited the comment I left on the Hop Spot board.)

I ask this because I have been looking for something for a LONG time and I finally found it in Australia. I'm in the US and of course, Region One. The DVD I want is from Australia and they are Region Four.

It is a very simple matter to get to the CrossBar and change region settings. Yep, there is the Australia region.

This opens up another couple of questions.

First, will I be limited to how many times I can switch back and forth between regions.

Second, Even though I can switch to a different region, will the different region I am switching to, which will be recorded in PAL format be able to play on my NTSC setup?

While it is changing to region four, will it also change from PAL to NTSC?

Yeah, this is a burning question. I have been looking for this documentary for YEARS. The Trials of Life narrated by David Attenborough.

I'd sure like some help with these questions from all you Tech-Heads out there.

Jacob,

Sup?

Five times? I wish. I spent days on it until I got lucky. I tried to jump out from around a corner after a shot from the tank, shoot and duck back in. I lost. I tried going under the thing on the left and lost. I tried going head on, and lost.

I lost a lot. Sometimes I think that there is "something: built into games that if you cannot make it past a certain point, then it gets "easier" for you to do what your supposed to be getting done. Just sometimes.

And I guess, because my hands don't work as well as they used to, I get clumsy on button mashing, so that is part of my problem.

I've never gave up, tho. I spent some cash on these things, so I can never give up. Sometimes I'll leave it alone for a while (whether it's a day or a month) and come back to it to try all over again. But, I eventually make it.

And I made it on the tank yesterday. Cool!

It does look like it is going to get rougher as time goes by considering I am on the Eel Boss. Aggravating.

But yeah, all you can do is keep trying.

Dale

Hey, Liam. thanks. I appreciate it!

Yeah, what with all that's going on and all the things I cannot do, gaming is an outlet. Something to do when the days just drag by. And without the consoles (Xbox, XBox 360, Gamecube, and PSP) my next choice is TV. Regular TV sucks. If it wasn't for the Old Lady, I wouldn't be hooked up to DirecTV. Can't stand TV.

But, oh, I do love my movies. And watching "Ahnold" blow something up, it is magnificient on the 55" Hitachi HD plasma.

But, watching movies can also get old. So between gaming, movie watching and a nap here and there, I can make it through the day.

Again, thanks!

First off, it seems like every post I have made has been posted in the wrong Forum. OK, I'll admit my last post was totally my fault. I had several boards up and accidently headed to the XBox 360 forum. oops...

I want to "Favorite" my threads that I write or participate in so I can have easy access to see what might have been posted behind me.

Up until today, I haven't had a problem. Now when I click the Favorite in the drop down box I get threads saved that I didn't post to or even write.

GS having a bad day today?

I have a Zune. From what I have seen (which is very little) about Podcasts from GS, they can be found on iTunes.

Not a problem. I have an account with iTunes also and am able to use/convert stuff to work with my Zune.

But, why can't GS host their own Podcasts?

How much easier would it be for the members here who want the various Podcasts to just go directly to a page GS designates as Podcasts so we can look and see what we want and download them?

I'm sure that GS has a monstrous assortment of servers and such, but this feature could be easily set up and run from headquarters.

It was a total pain to find what I wanted last night on iTunes for some GS Podcasts...

I'll throw that out to the Mods to help out here.

...or maybe that should be like, bad words and stuff to say.

I'm a whole lot closer to 55 than I really like to be, so I have amassed quite a, uh, er... "Cuss word" vocabulary. And with all that practice I can string several together to make a passable sentence.

But, this "Spider Tank" has made me use up all I know and then some.

It's probably not my fault. I am too good to keep losing like that. It must be the controller. Yeah, that's it. I need a new controller.

Anyone have any tip(s) they want to recommend? I mean besides take it back and get a real game.

Actually, as a shooter goes, it is not bad. Just the way I like them. Storyline is even passable. And they assembled a pretty good cast for the voiceovers.

So, yeah, if ya got a tip you could pass on, PM me so a spoiler doesn't accidently get posted.

Yeah, right. I get to have a "Spoiler" and no one else can. hmmm... That don't sound right, somehow.

Oh yeah, just in case. I've already heard that the font size I use "MAY" seem to be seen as disruptive.

I use this font size because that is the size that my eyes can see the easiest with. That little .025 font size that is the default in the forums is not something I can see.

I could use my readers and lay on the table with my nose four inches from the screen or I could go out and spend five-hundred on un-needed bi-focals. Or I can use the twelve point font size.

Gamespot did give us that option to use, so I don't see anything about that size (or any other) as being "disruptive."

Maybe me saying "that ain't being disruptive" is being disruptive...

Someone will probably help me out. Yeah...

Dale
