sI am surprised by the people who thought $1100 was a lot for a gaming pc, its more than he might need to spend but he is getting a better gaming experience too probably, but back to the subject.
PC gaming opens up entire genres that basically don't exist on consoles (ex. mmorpg, strategy, simulation, and adventure). The online aspects are much better (ex. 32 player TF2 instead of 8). The graphics are better as well even though you said that doesn't matter. Nowadays you can even hook up your pc to a big screen tv and use a controller if you want.
The only thing consoles really offer is a cheaper entry price ($300 vs your $1100) but if you have the money, everything about pc gaming is superior. Its like a having a Kia or Chevy versus a BMW or Lexus. Now there is nothing wrong with a Kia but people who can afford BMWs don't drive Kias
[QUOTE="brandontwb"]Something that's really simple for beginners.NoctisCaelum52These.. - Diablo II - Dungeon Siege II - Fable - The Lost Chapters - Torchlight - Baldur's Gate II - Divine Divinity these are all pretty complex and mostly grind fests. If you want to be led on a fairly linear path then pick the bioware game with the theme you like (Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Maybe Neverwinter Nights) for a more open world non-guided type of RPG I recommend Fallout 3 since it gives you a lot of direction. Oblivion is similar but they sort of just drop you in the middle of the game and don't give you much help.
Uhh.. Age of Empires Series ?NoctisCaelum52Uhhhh I think you are thinking of the wrong game. The Guild is a weird combination of RPG and Buisness Managment and Political Sim/Strategy taking place in the middle ages and its possibly the best game ever made (ok maybe not the best but its completely awesome and more people should know about it). There is The Guild:Venice which is sort of a stand-alone expansion to The Guild 2. It doesn't make any improvements but it adds a couple of new career paths and new scenery.
I think that anything you look for will disappoint. Nothing else does quite what The Guild does The closest thing might be certain MMOs (I'm thinking like Eve or something but obviously a completely different setting since its in space). Please keep us all updated if you do find something as good though.
I also live in a rural area but dial-up is the same price here as everywhere. Unless you live in an area without phones then I suspect internet is no more than $15/month and probably closer to $5/month. Also satellite internet is available to anyone in the world for around $60/month. Its got high latency so you're not going to play wow on it but its high speed internet, its what I use. Bottom line is that there is no excuse to not have internet unless you don't have $50/month of expendable income. But if that is the case, why are you buying games in the first place?I live in rural area internet is expensive
