Just FYI The first Mass Effect was an excellent port so I would expect the same from the second.

sI am surprised by the people who thought $1100 was a lot for a gaming pc, its more than he might need to spend but he is getting a better gaming experience too probably, but back to the subject.

PC gaming opens up entire genres that basically don't exist on consoles (ex. mmorpg, strategy, simulation, and adventure). The online aspects are much better (ex. 32 player TF2 instead of 8). The graphics are better as well even though you said that doesn't matter. Nowadays you can even hook up your pc to a big screen tv and use a controller if you want.

The only thing consoles really offer is a cheaper entry price ($300 vs your $1100) but if you have the money, everything about pc gaming is superior. Its like a having a Kia or Chevy versus a BMW or Lexus. Now there is nothing wrong with a Kia but people who can afford BMWs don't drive Kias

I'll put my vote in for Tropico. Especially since you said you didn't want something too complex.

Are the purchases the exact same price? Sometimes a credit card rejects the second purchase if they are the exact same price to prevent duplicate charges. Just one possibility.

[QUOTE="brandontwb"]Something that's really simple for beginners.NoctisCaelum52
These.. - Diablo II - Dungeon Siege II - Fable - The Lost Chapters - Torchlight - Baldur's Gate II - Divine Divinity

these are all pretty complex and mostly grind fests. If you want to be led on a fairly linear path then pick the bioware game with the theme you like (Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Maybe Neverwinter Nights) for a more open world non-guided type of RPG I recommend Fallout 3 since it gives you a lot of direction. Oblivion is similar but they sort of just drop you in the middle of the game and don't give you much help.

Uhh.. Age of Empires Series ?NoctisCaelum52
Uhhhh I think you are thinking of the wrong game. The Guild is a weird combination of RPG and Buisness Managment and Political Sim/Strategy taking place in the middle ages and its possibly the best game ever made (ok maybe not the best but its completely awesome and more people should know about it). There is The Guild:Venice which is sort of a stand-alone expansion to The Guild 2. It doesn't make any improvements but it adds a couple of new career paths and new scenery.

I think that anything you look for will disappoint. Nothing else does quite what The Guild does The closest thing might be certain MMOs (I'm thinking like Eve or something but obviously a completely different setting since its in space). Please keep us all updated if you do find something as good though.

If you have to choose one its defiantly got to be the first. Its not just that the 2nd isn't as innovative; it was made by a completely different team. It is much shorter (probably 15 hours versus 40), the story and writing isn't as good, and the locations aren't as neat. I don't think there is really a question here. I would be surprised if you could get a single person to endorse buying invisible war over the original.

I have run thief 2 and never had a problem with vista and an 8800gts. Don't know about 1 but it seems they are fairly compatible games with vista

Its not bad at all. I think it will work great for games now and leaves you room to upgrade later. You already know about your processor; the only other concern I would have is that the memory is fairly low speed. But memory is cheap to upgrade so thats alright. Overall its a lot better than I started out with. I had an old apple and upgraded to a 386 for my first gaming pc :)

I live in rural area internet is expensive

Darksonic666
I also live in a rural area but dial-up is the same price here as everywhere. Unless you live in an area without phones then I suspect internet is no more than $15/month and probably closer to $5/month. Also satellite internet is available to anyone in the world for around $60/month. Its got high latency so you're not going to play wow on it but its high speed internet, its what I use. Bottom line is that there is no excuse to not have internet unless you don't have $50/month of expendable income. But if that is the case, why are you buying games in the first place?
