Yes, I'm back from our field trip! And... I SWAM WITH THE MANATEES!!!!!!! ^_^

Okay, here's the rundown. After already being woken up at 1:00 in the morning by the guys in the next room over at the hotel banging on the wall, we woke up at 4:30 AM, got into out bathing suits, and got on the bus in 40 degree weather. Once we got to the dive shop, we were given our wetsuits and told to put them on. I did, and after grabbing my snorkel and mask, headed out to the boats.

It's now 5:00 AM and we're heading out. The trip out was pretty boring, we just talked and sang our own improvised version of 'The Wheels on the Bus', called 'The Wheel on the Boat'. Once we got out, I was the first one in the water, flippers, mask, and all. I was immediately surrounded by about five manatees and couldn't move. Eventually, the manatees moved and I started swimming. The water was a comfortable 72 degrees, because it was a natural hot spring.

This one manatee was, like, stalking me. It wouldn't stop following me!!! It was creepy. And the fish were about FIVE FEET LONG!!!!!!

At about 9:30, we left the area we were swimming at and headed out to the 'Three Sisters,' which was a small cove made up of three smaller coves in a clover pattern. Two of the three had deep valleys under the water, so I kept diving down to the bottom, scaring all of the fish.

I went back to the boat about 10:00, and took of my wetsuit. It was much easier to swim around without the wetsuit, due to the inflexibility of the wetsuit. I headed back, swimming upstream in a downstream current over a ton of rocks to get back to the cove.

We had a ton of fun, but finally got called back to the boat. I ended up swimming behind my crush (who we will now call Nathan, or Nate), and we headed back downstream. At the opening of the stream, I got caught in a faster current, and got too close. He kicked me in the chest on accident, and got his foot caught in my suit top, almost pulling it off. I was also kicked into a rock and scraped my knee.

Ari was the scariest of all, She had two Vaults, two double-shots, and another energy drink, and was practically vibrating in her seat the entire way back.

Oh! And I got to be a palaeontologist for about 4 hours! I actually was given a fossil and told to clean the bone, which was a neck vertebra. It was fun!!!! Also, I got to see the guys freak out due to being given fossilized dinosaur scat. It was soo funny!!

On the bus ride back, I had asked one of the girls what her most embarassing moment was, and it was one of mine. Apparently, her top, like mine, had been untied when she took her wetsuit off. My mom caught it before I had taken my wetsuit off. Her mom, apparently, didn't. I told her that I'd tell her what my embarrassing moment was when it was more private. She looked at me and said. "Oh, I know already. You were swimming back and Nathan caught his foot in your top and almost pulled it off." I blushed like crazy, and Nathan, who had heard, just grabbed his iPod and looked down, away from me. All the guys were teasing him, and the girls were teasing me.

All in all, it was a very interesting field trip.

Urgh, I HATE BEING SICK!!!!! *stabs something* And I'm missing the 30 hour famine to sit in the house and sneeze! :evil:
