My Top 10 video games

Figured I would throw my top 10 games on here for fun. And they are susceptible to be changed. I should also mention my first gaming system was the N64 so I got into the gaming life a little later than most.

1. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

I'm not much for going back and playing games over. I love to take my time and give my all to a game one time. Not the case for Ocarina of Time. It is hands down my favorite game of all time. I can think back at any time to any number of scenes that stay with me to this day. Its epic quest, epic setting, memorable characters, smooth controls, seemingly endless side quests and hidden gems make this game my number 1. Stunning graphics are a cherry on the top. I'm might even pick up a 3DS just so I can have it on the go. And I have to add all the Zelda's have place in my heart. To name some at random Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, Windwaker, Twilight Princess.

2. Banjo Kazooie

Yes I'm going with another N64 title for #2 but what can I say? Probably the only other game I love going back to play over and over again. You truly feel up against the evil Gruntilda, and love to run around with Banjo and Kazooie squawking the entire time. I can't forget any of the amazing level designs, especially the beach and snow levels (gotta love the snowman's scarf that doubles as a slide). I think one of the reasons I love these two games so much has to be there willingness to be dark. Obiviously they aren't resident evil, but still they are big, they aren't always bright and friendly, and while playing alone you feel like its you against it all. Classic. I admit I never played Banjo Tooie

3. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Because of this game, I haven't played Skyward Sword. I've had Skyward Sword since it has been out, but haven't opened it because Skyrim takes all my time. (Gears of War too when with friends)

4. Dragon Age: Origins

5. Zeus Master of Olympus

The first city building game I ever played and sadly the last. I held it in such high regards, even though the battle system isn't great (not existent almost) and there are a few glitches, that I didn't want to try any city builder out. It's kinda like not having ever seen the God Father Part III. Just couldn't bring myself to. Not many people have played this I'm thinking, but if you can pick it up. It's funny, engaging, intelligent and most of all addicting.

6. Gears of War

I'm not a Halo guy, probably because I never had the original XBOX, and also because once I play Gears online there hasn't been any other shooter worth picking up in my eyes. (Yes Call of Duty is good (Battlefield 1942 is better), but I played enough Counter Strike back in day (yes I'm lumping them together) and have evolved into needing a more nitty and gritty killing experience) Sorry for all the parenthesis.

7. Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis

8. Harvest Moon 64

9. Resident Evil 4

10. Counter Strike

Who knows how many hours I put in to CS. With about 1/10th of that time in Day of Defeat as well. The game set the standard as far as I'm concerned for online shooters. I miss you AWP map.

Honorable Mentions (in no particular order):

Super Mario 64, Bioshock (blew me away with the concept/graphics) Goldeneye, Dave Mira's BMX (loved that game on the Gamecube), Starwars Shadow of the Empire, Dead Space, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Megan Man 2, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Pokemon red and blue (who didn't love those as a kid?), Uncharted 2, Tony Hawks and sooooo many more.

I have a paper to write right now so I'll have to finish detailing this list later.

Dragon Age 2 (joke)

How does someone who has played Dragon Age: Origins give Dragon Age 2 a score any higher than a 6? The combat is faster and more fluid - Who cares? I'll take that clunky DAO system any day of the week, it was fun and more challenging. What were they thinking reusing dungeons over and over? Why get rid of Fatigue? (dumb countless things down) We can't arm our party members with armor other than than the few preconceived constructs? Finding and upgrading armor was one of the most rewarding parts of DAO. I can handle my party looking similar to one another way more than I can handle finding a few crappy armor upgrades throughout the game. The same city and surroundings over and over (and over)? With minor and tedious quests? It's just so blatantly obvious that corners were constantly being cut in this game, and in the name of being a better experience too. I didn't feel that once in DAO. And these characters, they're acceptable at best. Alistair, Morrigan, hell even Liliana and Wynne... now these were characters I could care about. Blah blah, if nothing else, only being able to talk to party members in their special areas was a bad idea. Yes I'm writing this months later, but I couldn't believe all these people scoring DA 2 an 8 an 8.5 even a 9. Don't give Bioware the impression that this game was acceptable, though not as great as DAO. It's not acceptable, it's embarrassing. I'll wait the 4 or 5 years it takes to put out legitimate sequels (Elder Scrolls) if this is what it will look like after only 2 years. DAO was one of the best games I've ever played, I couldn't even force myself to finish the second act of DA 2. Lastly, I've been coming to Gamespot for years now, at least 6 or 7, and I finally signed up just so I could announce my disappointment with this game.
