Say what you will about the PS3, but I don't think anybody can deny that Sony at least attempted to innovate with the system. I don't believe the same can be said for Microsoft.

Jared2720

My favorite innovation for the PS3 is the built in wifi and and the motion sensitive conrollers . . . . oh wait they stole both of those ideas from Nintento hahah

though i like PS3, its surely not perfect and i accept that its criticised, thats what SW should be, discussing things due to having different opinions... Malta_1980

This is no place for rationality! You will accept my opinions as LAW! Now smash your PS3 to bits with a tire iron, set it on fire and dance around it as it burns. haha just kidding chummy :)

brand recognition. sony has it going for em. ps3 sale are picking up more and more. and i dont see nintendo dwindling. 360 will be in the end of the pack by the end of next year.enygma500

Whew, careful now, with a phrase like "brand recognition" your showing your age a little :) I agree that Sony had tons of brand recognition to carry them and it can be argued that it was the only thing that kept them afloat during a somewhat less than stellar launch. The facts also prove you right on the steady increase in PS3 sales as well. End of the day though, I think it is foolish to think that any one of these three systems will put the others out to pasture. Works for me, competition breeds excellence.

comes from its year head start. if it wasn't for that, imo...360 wouldn't be in the positiion it is now.

Being first to market is often a far superior marketing strategy even when you are giving up some "hardware" muscle.

Systems with RROD, no built in wifi, no built in batterypack, and no blueray would make me not want to buy it. The only advantage of going into the market first is picking up fanboys, and making more money earlier. People need to understand that the PS3 is a better system hands down, and if people are still complaining about game library, more great exclusive titles are coming out.

Wow you missed the entire point. I didnt say that the PS3 wasnt a better machine but rather used some examples of how superior consoles in the past were left out in the cold and had to struggle to gain ground when they released later than their competition. And what is is whole thing about making money earlier . . . . WELL YEAH. Every person that picked up a xbox 360 is far less likely to pick up a PS3. Facts are facts. And as for getting fanboys. Fanboys pay the bills, regardless of the system they do their cheerleading for, make no mistake.

Serious question: where else can you get blu ray and the Cell processor, in one package? That is designed to be a serious contender for 10 whole years?

Fart_Storm

Whoa, whoa WHOA. Ten years . . . . Oh I see Sony has been able to bypass Moore's Law now huh? Tell you what, keep your PS3 for the next decade and then get back with us and see if you are singing a different tune haha.

The only reason there is any argument at all is that some people are unwilling to admit that if Jesus was still walking around today he would undoubtedly be playing MGS4 at the end of a hard day curing the blind and raising the dead . . . . yeah I said it. WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING OF IT?! ;)

Can't you just download TV shows and movies for free on the PC and stream them to your 360? PS3 lets you save them straight to your hard drive.

Tyrant156

Yes you can stream video, music and pictures from your PC to the xbox 360

Hmmmm, sorta like the whole PS2 vs Xbox battle, or let me even take you back to 1989 and the debut of Sega Genesis and its uphill battle with entrenched NES fans. Being first to market is often a far superior marketing strategy even when you are giving up some "hardware" muscle.

Not only is PC gaming *not* dead, but the opposite is true: PCs will eventually kill off the console. With more and more services going PC/internet based in the future (IPTV, digital distribution etc.), coupled with advances in technology and the "gameplay vs. graphics" statement made by the success of the Wii, it's almost a foregone conclusion that sooner or later the console will be replaced by the PC.PBSnipes

What the hell are you talking about? You make it seem like the PC gaming market crawled out of the dumpster in a console controlled market. If anything they were the forebearers of all consoles and as such has given up ground to the consoles. If they were on top of their game they would not be fighting for their market share.

In any case I think we have reached the point of convergence for both PCs and consoles. The machines are flexible, capable of more than just "gaming" and further developments will continue this trend.
