I think the demo is pretty good, but I like the BF2 style gameplay. What I'm guessing will happen is everyone will tout this as COD4 and when people play it and it's not like COD4 at all, people will say it sucks.
I don't think either has online splitscreen (I know COD4 doesn't). If you want a more realistic shooter go with COD4 (or RB6:V2 because it has better multiplayer imo) and if you want more of an older school shooter (eg unreal tournament or quake) go with Team Fortress 2.
COD4 gets really boring fast because it's just the same thing no matter which which game mode you play. Run around, get killed by grenade, spawn, get killed by m16 noob, spawn again, get killed by sniper, hit start, change your kit to m16 sniper and 3x grenades, run around wasting like all the other noobs in COD4.
