A couple days ago I got the same problem, I can put any disc in but the PS3 won't read anything. Found an odd work-around; apparently starting a demo (in my case the GRID demo) causes it to recognize the disc, which can then be played from the PS menu while in the demo. Which means this is a really odd firmware problem, probably caused by an update, because the hardware is working fine once I get it recognized.

I'd go with BF2142, it's MUCH more complex and interesting, Counter-Strike: Source is just a deathmatch. Seriously, I played Counter-Strike for 4 years straight before realizing it was pretty damn boring. The only thing that separates it from the crowd is the fact that you have to learn to burst-fire in addition to aiming. That's it. It's just another twitch-shooter, tactics are only employed if you're playing in a clan match.
