Sony said they doubled sales in the first price cut week, its now around 100K a week = 400K barely passes 360's numbers in October. Add another 100K for black friday, it still didn't even double 360's numbers in October.
November will be harsh for Sony.
Sony had to clarify that 100K a week sales figure. They released a statement from their PR department confirming that those sales included the PS2 as well as the PS3.

**** its the same. Now thats even worse.
ROFL I remember that shameful PR. No I ment this:

November sales aren't even out yet. November isn't even done with yet.MrSickVisionz
True. Its called a prediction. I was using the industry trend + Sony's PR to predict the numbers. Seemed reasonable.
[QUOTE="aldarrak"][QUOTE="BambooBanger"]There are definite trends within the industry, but throwing a (second) price drop in the mix makes it a bit of a wildcard.DaysAirlines
True. But Sony's PR already gave an idea about the effect of the price drop, which is doubling the sales. Their numbers were the first week, which is usually the peak of any launch. Sony's number also were during the holiday season, so I shouldn't be multiplying with the 2.5 either. Really I'm pushing Sony's luck here to the max.
Of course its still a prediction afterall.
Every console doubles its sales in November.Gibbed

I looked back at some old NPDs, and it appeaers that November sales roughly = October sales X 2.5. However, the PS3 had a price cut, so it should get more than that.
Sony announced that the PS3 sales doubled with the price cut. That is very likely the effect of the price cut + November (Holiday season). But I'll be a nice guy and say it was just the price cut :) Let the math begin:
PS3:
120k (October sales) X 2 (price cut doubled sales) X 2.5 (November effect) = 600k
Xbox 360:
360k (October sales) X 2.5 (November effect) = 900K
Even when I'm cheating with Sony, the difference is still 300k! And trust me, PS3 real numbers will be worse.. much closer to 450K
There is a difference between "advantages" and "being better". You barely call them advantages anyway.
1- $50/year is next to nothing.
2- Dedicated servers really doesn't make that difference, since the vast majority of online players have high speed connections. Also it could be a disadvantage if you consider server crashes => no online for you.
