Every review I've seen of the game shares the same criticisms; it's too hard, poor controls, and OMG IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STREET FIGHTER.
Just last weekend I played and beat the game, and truly was shocked at it's quality.
The controls I found to be near perfect, allowing for an insane amount of moves, using a controller with just two buttons - punch, jump, back flip, diagnal kick, far punch, ect.
The difficulty again I thought to be perfect - never did I die due to the game's shortcommings or design flaws... in fact I can now beat the game without getting a game over once, and it's been less than a week (not saying it's not difficult, but that it's never difficult due to design flaws).
Music is among the best I've heard on the NES, it seems to always fit the stage perfectly, and are easily remembered after the game is shut off.
Top it off with an interesting enough story and excellent visuals - I just don't understand why this game isn't held in the same light as Mega Man2, Bionic Commando, and Ninja Gaiden. And speaking of Ninja Gaiden, while it's a terrific game, it's essentially a test of memorization. You are absolutely REQUIRED to play the same level multiple times, remember every enemy spawn point and act accordingly. So much so that every run through the same level looks exactly alike - there's truly no room in Ninja Gaiden for improvising, yet that game is very often herald as a classic. I think another point is the enemy AI - in Ninja Gaiden, it seems the enemies would do the exact same thing whether you were there or not, they just walk their scripted path. While in SF2010, essentially every enemy reacts differently depending on where you are on the screen, making no two play-throughs alike.
Forgive me for the novel, but I really just don't understand how some games are revered so much while SF2010 seems to be completely forgotten... anyone else have any experiences with this game?
