i was playing Shogo alot during that time periodsome people could say oni totally sucked, even though people enjoyed it, and the creators went on to even bigger and better things. so how is it fair say the sequel to Killzone will be a total flop?

a bird reminded of a game that was out on the ps2 and for the pc. the game was called Oni, and guess who made the game Oni? and guess what score it made?
well ill give the answer. Bungie Software created the game and the score it got here on
GS was 7.1 for the ps2 and
6.9 for hte pc.
now if bungie was able to make up the mistakes in the past, then why cant guerilla? oh well thougth i just share some old school info with you all. thanks After Math :) http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?type=11&stype=all&tag=search%3Bbutton&qs=oni
btw this is not a ownage thread or anything. just a thread to show game devs can get better :)
so my question to you ninja , did MS make money last gen with the xbox? if your answer is no, then it flopped last gen plain and simple. you can damage control it all you want. but the point of the matter is, they lost 5bil , they didnt make anything in the end. this gen is a whole new start, due ot the 360 and we all know that. but you have ot admit xbox flopped last gen when it lost 5 bill and didnt gain anything in last gen :)[QUOTE="alfy13"][QUOTE="Ninja-Vox"]Star67 i realise you're a hardcore cow, but please dont side with the troll who is deliberately trying to annoy other people just because he too, is a cow. Be reasonable.Ninja-Vox
No it didn't. Again, you acting like a child. That's not a flame, that's a simple fact. And you know it. I'm honestly starting to wonder if this is all on purpose to annoy other people. Generations dont end as a business. You plan a business model. Do you think they sold the console for less money than it cost them to make by accident? Do you seriously not think they had a long-term plan to make that money back?
The xbox was in no way a flop, because it gained microsoft a key foothold in games industry. Simple as that. They managed to force their way in, using the xbox. Now that they're in, they've got the xbox 360 and xbox live to make money off of. They'll have another console. They even said from the very beginning at their first shareholder meeting "this is a long-term investment".
They lost money initially, but are now MAKING money as a result of that initial investment. If you can see past that, there's no point me talking any further. A console "flopping" or not is not a measure of how much profit it made. In that case, the gamecube was a pretty big success eh? Cause even if it sold like crap, Nintendo made money off of it. By your logic.
You cant just stop at the xbox and pretend the 360 is made by some other company and is a fresh start. If you think that's the way it works, you really dont have a clue...
lol i love you ninja btw. i love how you take the word flop and turn it around to sound like it was a good thing. we all know xbox flopped last gen, but yet you are in some kind of denial. dude like i said, they lost 5 bill last gen, didnt make any thng last gen. the 360 is not paying for that lost (floppage) this gen. anyhow im off to pay some warhawk beta and even get a game of rainbow 6 mp on the 360. if you have a 360 shoot me your gamertag thru pm and we can get a game going.[QUOTE="Star67"][QUOTE="Ninja-Vox"]Star67 i realise you're a hardcore cow, but please dont side with the troll who is deliberately trying to annoy other people just because he too, is a cow. I have to protect my fellow members of the herd, but back to the investment thing........depends on how you look at it.......im sure microsoft share holders at one time thought it was a bad investment, but to gamers like us it was a good one. But, hmmmmm idk what to say here....... ask me something and ill see what i can come up with
Sorry, but just like you did yesterday, you charged in with insulting comments like "you need to go back to high school" and now you dont want to admit you're wrong. They lost an awful lot of money to get a foothold in the market; they are now MAKING money thanks to that initial investment.
When you lose money and eventually make more than you lost, that's called a good investment. Simple as that.

[QUOTE="CaptainUber"]Ahhhh, E3 hype, it's been too long. How does Gamespot ever get by without all this...camaraderie...among members? (::Looks at Ninja-Vox and alfy13::)
And to answer the topic, yes. Guerilla can get it right. But just because they can doesn't mean they will, and a big budget doesn't magically equal success.Ninja-Vox
By that i assume you mean me making some points and trying to have a reasoned discussion about this, compared to him ignoring all the points and randomly coming out with "SO YOU ADMIT I'M RIGHT!" in situations whereby the exact opposite of this is clearly apparent.
from wiki ninja :)Dutch based Guerrilla Games, formerly known as Lost Boys Games, developed this game and caught Sony's eye. The gaming company showed Sony a demonstration of a first-person shooter that they were currently developing for Windows. Sony was impressed by the game and made a deal with Guerrilla to develop Killzone exclusively for the PlayStation 2. Sony then commissioned award-winning sci-fi author Joe Dever to develop the storyline and contribute to the game design.
Making the switch from programming for the PC to the PlayStation was not an easy task. Guerrilla spent two years learning the programming techniques of the console while they were still in pre-production. In 2001, Killzone was ready to be created.[citation needed] The public knew little about Killzone, but as information started to leak out about the game hype started to grow. A single blurry scan of a VHS was posted in a British video game magazine(PSM2), and eventually made its way onto the internet.
When Killzone was officially announced, expectations for the game were very high, and some gaming magazines dubbed the game a "Halo-killer", implying that the game would beat the wildly popular Microsoft first person shooter, Halo: Combat Evolved, even though Guerrilla Games insisted that they did not want to compete with Halo. On release, rumours of online cooperative play and hard disk support were proven untrue.[citation needed]

[QUOTE="alfy13"][QUOTE="Ninja-Vox"][QUOTE="alfy13"]its kind of strange. in your other thread yuo made it look like sony was doommed . but now you admit that they can make a come back in time. but when i said that you made fun of me . let me go find that thread right quick. im glad you admit that i was right. just like i said in the same post in that thread about the 360 making a come back to. but yet now you admit that i was right. brb going to get that thread right quick. godi love hypocrites :)Ninja-Vox
Begging your pardon, but again i've said no such thing. Again, you're simply trolling and trying to annoy other people. And AGAIN you still refuse to answer the question. You said the original xbox was a flop because it lost money; i've shown you that that is completely false, as it was an investment which is not paying off with the xbox 360.
So, if you dont mind me asking, how ON EARTH are you the one who is right here?
you just admit it. they are now paying it off with the xbox 360 which means they lost money. when you are paying for what you lost, its called i lost the money now im paying it back. No, you're not making any sense whatsoever.
THEY LOST MONEY with the original xbox. It was an INVESTMENT. They took a hit on the console to get as many out there as possible so that they could make the money back on the long-term.
With the XBox 360, they are now making a profit. Meaning the investment paid off, as they are able to make their money back plus extra. Thus, the whole point of an investment.
In summary,
You: xbox is a flop because it lost money
Me: no it isn't, as it allowed them to gain market share and make that money back, and then some later on down the line.
You: SO I WAS RIGHT!!! and other stuff which doesn't make any sense at all.
you can damage control it all you want. but when you lost 5bil, its call i lost 5 bill. now making it up for their lost with the 360 is common sense. but the point is they LOST 5 bill dollars. what part of LOST do you not understand.[QUOTE="alfy13"]sorry but even guerrila has stated, they are a pc gamer dev, getting use to the PS2 was very hard for them. if they would ofworked on the xbox they would of felt more at home. you can read that here at http://en.wikipedia.org/org/wiki/Killzone[QUOTE="htekemerald"]Why hype a game from a developer that has no experience making goof FPS games. Thats what I always think when I hear killzone hype.TOAO_Cyrus1
but i like i said, be prepared to be owned. :)
Guerilla has never made a good game.... ever. Their only PC game was simultaneously released for consoles sos they are not a PC dev.
