[QUOTE="Store24"] So I just finished it and I really expected more. First of all 75% of the game takes place in mineshafts and insect tunnels. And there aren't even any very good fight scenes in any of them. The only parts that were even memorable is the part where you have to hold off the 4 tunnels with the gun turrets etc. and then the fight part right before you take the elevator up to save the chick with that bug gel or whatever. The rest is just monotonice tunnel fighting and puzzle solving that is all basically the same with not very good AI. You can time the pattern of the bugs in those tunnels because they barley had a mind of their own.
Then you finally get to the outdoor scenes and you are still locked into a path. The part where you have to get the bridge to tilt and jump the car was pretty cool but then all the car driving parts just reminded me of NOLF2, you know the snowmobile parts? You are just kind of locked into these kind of "outdoor" paths and really have no choice of where to go. And NOLF2 came out in 2002!
Then you get to that final scene with the walky things and the sticky bombs and that was kind of fun and took me a few times to get through and then that's it. Then the dude with the fake leg gets his brain sucked out by an alien tongue.
That's it? I was like "what?? Are you kidding me?" I would give the game like an 8.2 at best. The game play is mostly boring with the exception of the parts I just mentioned, it's really short, especially if you don't count the boring tunnels parts. And the graphics look really dated for 2007!
This game is way overrated.
Haee
-The engine was built in 2004, the graphics are very well optimized for a broad scale of computers.
-Half Life was ALWAYS a lienar game, why would they make the game suddenly open-ended in Episode 2? It provides more of the same experience which is always a good thing given the fact that people consider Half Life 2 one of the greatest games.
-Its not FULL priced (30$ in US)andits part of Valve's episodic theme.
-75% of the game does NOT take place in mineshafts.
-And honestly Half Life never really had a good story but the way it presents it is seriously awesome.
I wont defend Valve from crappy A.I but you have to consider the fact that you just dont seem to like Half Life at all. Thats ok but what you say isnt factual.
I agree with you, Infact, the only thing i dont like about this episode is its fewer game play time.only 5 hours.
By terms of Immersion, by far it is the best in series.
