I went and saw the rerelease of Titanic in 3D yesterday. The movie was good, but it didn't hit me as hard (emotionally) as it did when I was younger. A funny thing happened right after the movie. I saw a couple girls who looked to be about 12 years old & it had been their first big screen Titanic experience. They looked so emotionally shaken up, like it was the best, most heart breaking movie ever. It reminded me of me 15 years ago when I first saw Titanic. Wow, Im getting so old! Did any of you go see Titanic? 15 years ago or just recently? Thoughts?

Friday Night Lights
by alirk on Comments
So a few months back I discovered "Friday Night Lights" on Netflix. I've been slowly watching the episodes. (I'm somewhere in season 3 now). I've really enjoyed it & I think it's awful it only got 3 seasons. And most of the seasons aren't even full seasons! Have any of you watched this? What do/did you think?
A couple really good movies...

So, last night I went and saw "Crazy Stupid Love." Pretty much the only/main reason I wanted to see this was b/c Emma Stone is in it. I love Emma Stone! It was a really, really good movie! Emma Stone wasn't even in it nearly as much as you would think, but it was still really enjoyable. I would recommend it to any of u...Really good!
Then today I watched "The Adjustmant Bureau." Another great movie! Matt Damon & Emily Blunt gave really good performances. The entire premise of this movie was so different than any other movie I've seen. Another one I highly recommend!
So, have any of you seen either of these movies? What did/do you think?
More TV shows from my growing up years...

A continuation of my last blog:
Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? (1991-1995)
This was a game show on PBS. I really liked it alot! I think one reason I liked it is b/c there was a popular computer game based on the same character.
Boy Meets World (1993-2000)
Great show! I think this was/is one of the more/most popular/loved shows. Everyone knows who you're talking about when you refer to Cory & Topanga! This is another show that I would still watch.
Family Matters (1989-1998)
Loved this show & I think one of the main reasons is Urkel. I used to do a mean Urkel impression when I was little
Full House (1987-1995)
Like many/most of these shows this is one I could/would still watch & enjoy. Great premise & I think it was written fairly well. Loved Kimmie Gibbler!
Home Improvement (1991-1999)
This was a great show! Very funny. A big part of the reason I loved this show so much was Jonathan Taylor Thomas (played the middle son, Randy). For a few years I loved JTT, so him being on the show def added to my love for the show. But even without JTT, it was still a great show.
So, did any of you watch any of these shows? What do you think of them now?
TV shows of my growing up years
by alirk on Comments
I got the idea for this blog from Lady_Lancaster. I read her blog(s) about shows she liked in her growing up years & it made me want to write a similar blog! So here goes - Some of my fav shows from "back in the day!"
Saved by the Bell (1989-1993)
I think just about everyone from my generation would list this as one of their fav childhood shows. I think I have seen every episode at least 3 times!
Doug(1991-1994)
Of all the Nickelodeon cartoons I watched (Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rockos Modern Life, etc), this was my favorite. Loved this show! In fact, if it was still on anywhere I'd probably still watch it!
All That (1994-2005)
Like other Nickelodeon shows (example: Rugrats), this show probably stuck around too long. I didn't watch it as regularly in its later years, but I do know it went downhill. Having said that, in its hayday, this show was amazing! A kiddie Saturday Night Live. The cast was very talented. Among others: Kenan Thomson (now on SNL) & Amanda Bynes. I remember for a long time this show started the Nickelodeon Saturday night line up which included some of my other favorite shows: The Amanda Show, Cousin Skeeter, Keenan & Kel, etc. All in all, a really good show.
7th Heaven (1996-2007)
One of thefirst great WB shows. This show, similar to All That, probably stuck around too long. By the end of the series you could tell the writers were running out of fresh ideas & the actors were restless. But having said all that, 7th Heaven had many great seasons. This is a show that I will still happily watch today!
There are many others shows I liked to watch besides these (most on Nickelodeon): Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Rugrats, Hang Time, California Dreams, City Guys. I guess I've always been a TV addict! What are some of your favorite childhood shows?
Boo ABC & CW...

So, two of my favorite shows, Better With You (ABC) & Hellcats (CW) got axed after only 1 season apiece. Boo! This is one of the reasons I'm a little leary about watching new programs. If they don't knock it out of the park during their 1st season they'll probably get axed. So I invest my time into these shows and then they get yanked from me after 1 season. Boo!
Goodbye, Smallville

Tonight I watched the series finale of one of my favorite shows of all time: Smallville. The finale was not perfect, but I was pretty satisfied with it, especially the end of it. The Clark/Lois story was played well. Really all of the stories were played pretty well. Michael Rosenbaum's (Lex) return was, in my opinion, done very well. I think Michael did a great job. I don't know a lot about the actual Superman mythos, but all the little shout outs were great. Loved the Jimmy Olsen shout out in particular. One thing I kinda would have liked to have seen (that alot of fans would probably disagree with me about) is Lana appearing in some way. I think it would have been difficult to make her realistically fit into the story, but she was a huge part of the show for so long. I also would have liked to have seen Pete Ross back too. I really am kinda sad about this show ending. It makes me a little sad to think I won't be able to see Tom, Erica, Allison, Justin and Cassidy on a regular basis...I hope they each have alot of success outside of the show b/c I think that each of them is very talanted. Did any of you watch the Smallville finale? What did you think? #RIPSmallville
