I don't think that is the main reason why these games are so popular. I think the reason is because these two games are two premier rpg's on two new consoles (FF7 for ps1, X for ps2). I think that each gets a boosted opinion becauer they are the first ones to come out, and become the first to showcase what each system is capable of.
