The San Marino Grand Prix could make a return to the Formula One calendar in the future, according to F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Just weeks after he axed the race from the 2007 calendar, Ecclestone has revealed that he isn't ruling out a possible return for the Imola grand prix. However, it definitely won't take place next season.

"Out of habit I don't use the word 'never' in life, so I don't rule out anything in the future," Ecclestone told Autosprint magazine.

For 2007 the question is closed, if and when the works are finished, we'll see.

"There's always more and more interest in F1, new emerging economies want it, and with the renewal of the Concorde Agreement, from 2007 teams will receive a lot more financial resources.

"Many want to host a GP, so to be able to satisfy organisational costs is the minimum in my opinion. Imola has always lived a situation of absolute privilege, it couldn't last forever."

The circuit, though, is currently undergoing renovations in the hope of returning to the F1 calendar. However, even if the upgrade is completed by next season, Ecclestone says the race won't take place.

"I don't think all the works would be finished by March," he said.

"To reform a circuit it's not enough to say it, you also need to do it. Just look at what kind of phenomenal structures were build by the new countries hosting a GP in the last years.

"Even Monza, with all the limitations due to its location, has managed to renovate itself, even though every time a new problem appears: a judge complaining about the noise, tobacco advertisement, but things got done.

"At Imola, by contrast, there were only problems. A shame, because I think the circuit could be very financially rewarding but the entire system had to be changed.

"Maybe now they'll be calmer by organising amateur races, maybe that's their evolution."

Red Bull's David Coulthard says he is not concerned with who his driving team-mate is but that the way in which Christian Klien left the team is not good enough.

The Scot will be joined at Red Bull by Australian Mark Webber and despite having had low profile partners recently Coulthard remains unfazed.

Throughout his career Coulthard has raced with all types of drivers, some fast, some inexperienced, and all that he expects is someone who will work with him to do the best for the team.

"I don't worry about who my team-mate is, I have driven with Hakkinen and Raikkonen, who are both very fast," " he told Eurosport MotorMagazin.

"It is Red Bull's job to determine the driving pairing. I respect my team-mates and want to work with them to develop the package. "

On the early release of 2006 team-mate Christian Klien the Scot was less indifferent. The Austrian left the team after an internal spat and had to be replaced for the last three races of the season. The experienced driver says such incidents reflect poorly on the team.

"It weakened us and strengthened our rivals."

I love the countdown timer idea! (nice idea, mjk!)
Unfortunately, I don't think that we can incorportae a timer inside the banner because GS doesn't give you HTML access but instead asks for the banner's address only.

I'll see what I can do! :)

[QUOTE="Napster06"]Probably you guys know (or might not) about this thing called F1 in Schools. Well, my country just finshed it and the winners will stand a chance to get a fully paid trip to Melbourne to compete for the Grand Finals and go to Albert Park to watch the GP!!! I'm not from the winning team, so..........ARGHHH!!! (Right now we're hoping we can participate as a self-funded team).

That's really cool! I wish we had something like that here where I study!

Other than F1, there isn't any motorsport that catches my attention. May be A1GP if I can get it for free! ;)

Well done Blaze! :) I like the format you used, and I understand how Gamespot's posting service can be a pain in the neck when it comes to centering stuff! ;) Yet I still can't see why Schumi's overtaking move on Raikkonen received the largest number of votes; it wasn't anything special IMO.
