on another note...as far as sales go, I know now everyone is connected online, but enough people are. why not just start putting every new game on the psn store/xbox live store and sell them for a bit cheaper. (no disc, no phsyical production costs) they could cut the price on it, ten or twenty bucks off to compete with the used game pricerange. and then make more sales that way, put stuff online cheaper or as cheap as a used game. they'll suffer way less lose that way...i'd think anyway...
its sounding more and more like BOTH xbox and ps3 are setting themselves up to fail. at first xbox was doing the no discdrive, now sony with the no used. i'll be hanging onto my ps3 for awhile it sounds like. they need to just go to one of the comiccon conventions or something like that, and grab up random people and have THEM create the basis for the new consoles. i think they'd have a good chance of getting better ideas then whoever the he!! is in charge of production for either sony or microsoft.
I remember playing video games being much more...simple. it seems to be a political type of thinking now...whats the world coming to. just let me play my damn videogames!
wow is all i have to say to that. i'm interested in this new AC3 too, but its WAY to early to preorder the thing. the idea of the games being DLC is right up my ally to. the digital era is coming up fast. I expect like alot of people that in the next couple years it'll always be a DLC release. in which case...i'll probably buy more games. but something this article didn't touch on is the DLC game vs disc game prices. why is it that a DLC of a game cost the same as the disc?? shouldn't the DLC be cheaper, even if only slightly? you get no case, no booklet. sure thats not a big deal but I am positive others like me would buy it sooner if it was even just 10bucks cheaper as a DLC. otherwise i'll wait it out and eventually a bundle with ALL the dlc for the game will come out WITH the game as a DLC...problem solved.
this is a big tossup for some. alot of people rave about the AC series, but I agree with this drawn out explanation of it. AC2 was gold. then its been going downhill from there. i enjoyed brotherhood, and haven't bothered to finish ACR. just..doesn't interest me. the story just took off...brotherhood still had the same feel to me. but something is just missing in the revelations story. don't know what...have a hard time caring. this next instalment will be a bargain bin buy for me. ...if at all. and I truely hate saying that. I had so much enjoyment with the ezio story at first. oh well, we've all noticed ubisoft is a little lets say egotistical, so i'm guessing the quality is dipping due to success. damn shame.
I like the idea of SOFTWARE UPDATES instead of hardware, that would be a really nice touch. considering how tech works now anyway thats not a unreasonable idea at all. the new xbox comes out and the ps3 are still around and still having better graphics maybe more will switch from the hype after all. I bought the ps3 with hopes that the 10year shelf life would be legit, i'm not a big gamer so longevity wins for me, plus the xbox was getting alot of 'red lights', no thanks. microsoft is a giant, but that doesn't appeal to me. playstation has never done me wrong, i dont expect them to start anytime soon.
if we (anyone who had a credit card on the PSN) stay vigilant on our account. or simply change the card number. we should be just fine. in theory. i'm not to worried. and thankfully sony has offered a protection program/insurance of sorts. which i'm very thankfull for. thats peace of mind right there. i mean...my credit card maybe had a 1klimit on it. so the 1million dollar insurance. is just a tad bit of overkill but...thats fine with me. on the issue of the free sutff we get though. i honestly don't think we deserve free stuff. we all agreed when signing up (even if you didn't read the whole agreement you signed it) that we would not hold sony responsible for network outtages etc etc. so...technically. we don't deserve anything. but since they are giving stuff away it kinda feels like a slap in the face. kinda a 'here everyone, here are a few games that most of the longer running ps3 owners already have. but enjoy' and 'heres a free trial of a service we offer that you will probably want to keep, so after the service you can subscribe and pay us to continue using the free reel in trial of ps+' its all marketing ploys i think. sony is big enough if they wanted to appease people they should have offered ANYTHING they own in the playstation store for free. only one game that way though, but still. just selected choices is a little unfair to some.
its simple things sometimes. i remember playing games where if you went offscreen the computer would simply lose sight of you. eventually the cpu oppent learned to toss a grenade after you even though it couldn't see you. leaps and bounds mixed with tip toes and stumbles in the right direction. AI is getting better with time. its hard to notice but it is. and its impressive sometimes. but to make a computer game act like a human would be almost impossible. but they are doing what they can, and so long as they give us a 'easy' mode to play on to. i say go for it, make it ridiculously hard to beat the computer. i'll test my skill, then go back to easy mode to make myself feal better.
