The original Deus Ex is my favourite game ever, and I enjoyed the second one also. It was the story that sucked me in the most and having to make moral choices which affected how other people in the game treated you. I'm hoping that Fallout 3 offers a similar experience, but I'm unsure about this third installment of Deus Ex.

Firstly, if its a prequel, why do all the screenshots and concept art of the environments look more futuristic than in the original. Also, the augmentations sound awesome, but at the same time better than those in the original (surely the better augmentations should have came later on?). Also I feel they are missing the point with the system of upgrading weapons as the combat in both Deus Ex's was never great anyway as it was other elements which made them great, mostly the story and integration of RPG elements (also there were weapon upgrades in the original anyway, so its hardly a new feature). As for swapping hiding in shadows for a cover system...well, that sucks as hiding in the shadows was a key part of the gameplay when playing steathly and this was obviously a consideration in the level design in the original. Why can't we have a cover system AND hiding in the shadows?

Basically the new dev team don't really seem to have a passion for the franchise as ion storm did or seem to be as visionary. I feel this will turn out to be a generic FPS with some cool augmentation stuff thrown in with loose ties to the story of the original games. One of the things I would change in this world if I could is to have the original Ion Storm team back together...the world would just be a better place. Everyone who has played the original Deus Ex, and Anachronox knows what I mean.

I thought the 360 just scales the image to that resolution, so if your playing a 720p game you will still see the same number of pixels. The 360 only renders at the resolution the developers want as far as I knew, and the scaling chip in the 360 does the rest. Otherwise, this would cause all kinds of problems for developers having to get their game to run smooth at all the resolutions that the 360 outputs.

The cheapest way to get one is to get one from Japan. I have this one:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-11z-49-en-70-1d2s.html

It worked fine for about 18 months on my PS3 with my monitor (not HDMI and DVI was not HDCP). I have a HDTV now though so don't use it anymore, but its a useful little box to have.

I did not get mine from play-asia, it was some other specialist gaming site for imports although I can never remember the name of it.

Ok well thats great, I am in need of venting! Like I said first time I had a problem with their customer service. Tell me you wouldn't be annoyed if this happened to you! [QUOTE="mezzo20"]i had a good experience.with them[QUOTE="LORDDICE1"]

So a little back History, I have been a Playstation gamer since the PS1 and have always been happy with my system and customer service from sony. My PS2 went out on me 2 times because the reader stopped reading discs and Sony was always able to fix the system and only charged me for shipping. Both times my system broke it was out of warranty and they still did it. They have always been helpful and easy to work with anytime there has been an issue, until today!

So once I heard from my buddy that Warhawk had been patched for trophy support on the 27th, I went and downloaded it! I was stoked and purchased the Omega Dawn/Broken Mirror Booster Pack for 11.99 4 hours ago. Then the store updated and said there was new content for the game. I saw there was a 3rd map pack now available and purchased it for 7.99 while still in game (an awesome new feature). I then decided to check the store and found that I could have gotten all 3 for 15.99 instead of paying $21.77.

I called up sony expecting it to be an easy customer satisfaction credit since the purchases were made within 4 hours of each other and they refused to do a courtesy $4.51 cent credit. After escalating to a Sup and explaining the situation his reply was "people bought the 60 gig system for full price and then the price dropped they did'nt get a credit"! I explained that was a horrible example since if someone bought a system that same day they would get a price adjustment and all places do at least a 14 day window. I also told him I have had my system since the first month of the system launching and to look at all the downloaded content I have purchased and he still acted like a stuck up to large of a company to care about there consumers.

LORDDICE1

I wouldn't be annoyed if this happened to me.

For the sake of $4.51 there are far more important things to be worrying about. Besides I would have checked for any combo offers(in game and on the PSN store)if I was purchasing a lot of DLC for the same game. I wouldn't call that a particularly bad experience, you purchased items from Sony without checking or researching your purchase first...not their fault. A faulty console (like your previous experiences) is their fault.

There are very slight framerate issues, but nothing that distracts from playing the game. I think it was more the fact the 360 players were bashing the PS3 version because it doesn't run quite as well as their beloved 360 version. I've played the PC, Xbox (original), and now the PS3 version of HL2 and I prefer to play the PS3 version the most becuase its just easier to get going (i.e. pop the disc in and it works). HL2 on the Xbox was perfectly playable in this manner also but the graphics hit from the PC version was pretty bad. The value is great also for The Orange Box so personally it was a must buy for me.

Here is a link to a comparison video anyway - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kejm0JE6aGA

It worries me sometimes with the attitude that people have towards pirating software. I hope to become a developer (not neccessarily games) within 3 years or less and I hope that being a developer will give me a paycheck to support me and any future family I decide to have. I would be so pissed off if I got made redundant or something due to the fact that the comapny hiring me couldn't make a profit due to piracy. I'd imagine that this has happened to a few people in the past within smaller software companies, all due to ignorant theives who do not consider the consequences of their actions.

I have just ordered one of these this morning, but not from play, ebuyer have them cheaper at £210. I'm gonna primarily be using mine for my PS3 also. I've had a PS3 since launch but have been using my monitor, which doesn't properly support HD (had to use a component to VGA convertor). This will make things a lot easier with HDMI, and enable to use 1080p instead of 720p (even if it is downscaled a bit). Should be ideal size for my small bedroom.

Exactly how is this supposed to be implemented then?

ALL games would need to be patched to work with such a feature. Its not as simple as simply playing your music whilst you are playing a game. What about cut-scenes? What about parts of the game where it is important to hear people speaking where the volume level of any background music would need to be reduced. A firmware update can only do so much and cannot work miracles and re-code games that were released before the update.

I count 75 PS3's there. Thats £31,875 or $37,425 at retail. Although I doubt anyone paid that much for them.
